I have a buddy with a brand new AutoMeter wideband O2 kit for sale cheap. Anyone here ever use one on a carbed engine? I figure it could come in handy when trying to tune a carb without going to a dyno. It comes with the gauge, Bosch sensor, and all the wiring. Everything except the bung I believe. Since I don't have an H or an X pipe of any kind would I have to get 2 kits or would one be fine?

I use my Innovate LC-1 on carbed vehicles all the time, with a laptop for logging. One bung is fine. Just pick a side that is more convenient to install the sensor. I have installed 2 bungs, one in each header, just for kicks to make sure each side of the engine is running right. Especially on blown engines.

But if the engine is in good shape and fuel distribution is good, both side should be the same AFR. If not, you have more than carb tuning issues.

One is fine, the mixture is coming from the carb and is the same on both sides. ... and yes I would buy it, the best tool I have ever used for a carb. Mine is an AEM but probably the same as the Autometer. The 02 sensor is the weak link. I replaced mine with a NTK 24320 which is supposed be more resilient to dying.

Ok I will more than likely buy it and put it in the A pillar. My next question pontiacgp already kind of hit was how long do the sensors last? I know water and raw fuel can do a number on them.

I bought mine used so I don't know how long it was in use. I read a few forums and guys complain about the AEM bosh 02 burning out too soon. I got that NTK number from a few of the forums. AEM try to discourage using any other 02 than the one they sell saying it was tweaked for their gauge but the NTK is working great and it shows the same ratios as the AEM bosh 02 did. When you install the bung make sure the 02 is on a 10 degree angle so the water and raw gas will drain out of it.

I have 2 of the AEM's I have one installed (gauge is in my kick panel) just to give me an idea of where I am at throughout the RPM range but since the sensors are not fond of race fuel I only install the other one to fine tune the carb after making a change and then I remove it and I also welded a bung on each collector.

Hey 565 dont you kick that gauge getting in and out of the car ? I bought one weeks ago but still deciding where to install it.

I use a lm2 wideband. Wish i had go e with the lc1 though.

But they are good for tuning, thats for sure. And bery handy for diagnosing/troubleshooting.

Do it🙂

From that angle it looks like I could but it is actually set pretty far in. I am 6'-1" so I have to lift my foot and pull my leg back to get over the roll bar so I doubt I get within 4" of it.
I did not want the AFR on the pillar with the nitrous gauges because the led numbers and constant different color lights are distracting to me.
I even have the lights for the pillar gauges on a separate switch so they are only on when the nitrous is on. (So basically they are never on)
