will this hood work

i have a 81 cutlass and the hood is shot a friend of mine has a 84 monte carlo hood will it fit and if it will will the body lines line up with the front clip

Hey Brad, I've been wondering the same thing, and very few people give me a straight answer...

But, from what I know, no G-body hood will work on another G-body... forget body lines, they won't even bolt in and close...

Can anyone confirm this?

I have a hood from a '81 Cutlass , if you want it you can have it .

Khan, I guess you just didn't get the answer you wanted to hear because several people, including myself, told you that it won't work.

You can physically bolt on any hood you want, but that doesn't mean it will fit.

The hinges and latches are in the same places on all G-bodies, but the difference in sheet metal (hoods, fenders, and header panels) create the interferrences that will not allow the different hoods to work without significant modification.

Nevermind the fact that the body lines are so different that it would look rediculous to try and interchange any of them...

Now for the matter at hand...
Look at the front edge of the Monte hood compared to the Cutlass, it comes to a peak that would overlap the header panel of the Cutlass, not allowing it to even close.

Heavy modification of either the hood or the header panel would be necessary to get it to close, not to mention it would still look completely out of place.

i have a marron one for an 84 cut. not sure if thats the same or not but its yours if you come get it lol
