Will this wire prevent my car from starting??

I pulled my distributor out when I was putting my engine in to make sure I didn't break it when I noticed that the green wire in there is broken. It may have been like that but I'm not sure. I just want to know if my engine will still start without it before I put it back in.

I am sorry but you need a new pick up coil, or as GM calls them a pole piece. From the looks of that distributor you might want to get a new one. Or a rebuilt one. She no start no more 😢

That sucks! I broke the rotor taking the engine out & maybe that pulled on that wire somehow.

those wires are known to break over time and it's good that it broke now than leaving you stranded one day...

The vacuum advance moves the coil back and forth and over time they just break.

watch out for accell...made in china...if I were you I'd just rebuild what you have. It's easy enough and takes a just a little time. If you do want to upgrade take a look at a DUI...
