A distributor I found online for 50 shipped and its new.

  --This a brand new V8 Oldsmobiles, HEI distributor , 455ci V8 engines ,1968-1976 , with red cap.

  --Designed for Oldmobile V8's.

  -- Adjustable Vaccum Advance.

  --Has 50,000 volt coil , to insure accurate and reliable timing to 7,500 RPM.

  --Fully CNC machined and polished housing.

  --4340 Chrome Moly gear which will work with cast and billet cams. 

--True spark alignment for instant throttle response.
 
Those cheap ebay distributors have been known to be junk. The guys that have bought them will typically replace the insides with better components. But by the time you do that you could have bought a nicer one to begin with.
 
you get what you pay for, you'll save yourself frustration, from posting numerous posts on here when the problems show up and money in the long run if you buy a good quality distributor instead of chinese junk... 🙂
 
There definitely was issues with them a while back. A few guys have bought them lately with better luck. Most stuff from China is getting better, unfortunately. Factory HEI are good on a 350 like yours, just pick up lighter springs for a quicker curve.
