Wondering if any of you guys have ever came across an issue like this before. I had a windshield installed last fall. The technician never installed the steel trim along the bottom of the glass because I had no idea where the hardware was. I went to put the trim back on yesterday and I cant get it to sit flush with the glass like it should. Now the problem is that the connector off the windshield for the antenna is hitting the trim causing it to stick out. I thought maybe its not on all the way, but I cleaned off the connector on the car and used some dielectric grease to make sure it was on all the way. I also thought maybe the connector had more volume to it compared to the OEM if that makes sense. But of course the company claims their glass supplier provides EXACTLY the same as the OEM glass. The trim is the factory piece not aftermarket and the technician had never heard of such a thing over 23 years of installing glass on older cars.

Anyone have any ideas???

Sounds like he couldn't get it to fit either so he "lost" the hardware.

Does the window leak at all?

No the windshield doesn't leak at all and the rest of the trim around it fit perfectly. Seems to be that darn antenna connector that is holding up the show!

I know you don't want to but can you notch the trim so it sits flush?

Did you check the windshield part of the connector? Maybe there is an imperfection or lip not allowing it to insert all the way in?

I know the connector plug is angled. Is that where it holds back the trim? Just trying to visualize your situation.

Normally when they're installing a new windshield, the trim is usually bedded in while the urethane is still soft and pliable, but the lower stainless trim should never be a problem.
Could you post some pics of the area in question?
