Vinyl Wrap? Let Me Break It Down for You





Hey folks,


Just wanted to share a bit more insight into what I’m working on.





Vinyl wrap is similar in principle to high-end electrical tape. It’s a flexible material that becomes stretchable when heated and contracts as it cools, allowing it to conform tightly to various surfaces.





In this case, I applied a satin black vinyl wrap to the steel arms of my wiper transmission. My goal was not just aesthetics, but also function—I believe this may help dampen some of the vibration and noise.





I recently replaced the wiper arms because I suspect they were contributing to excessive resistance, which my wiper motor was constantly compensating for. Over time, I think that strain played a role in burning out my previous motors.





Now on my third motor—a genuine AC Delco—I’m doing everything I can to prevent another failure. At this point, I’m open to experimenting with any reasonable solution to improve longevity and performance.
