A relative of mine was killed when a kid in a Eagle Talon and a Trans Am where racing. My Cousin was driving the Hyundai. When the Talon crossed the median, he was doing over 90mph and hit my cousin head on at almost 70 mph if I remember correctly. I was there when the accident happened but at the time I didn't notice who was in the car, I found out the next day. It made the news nation wide.

That kid Faria, I think he only got 2 years in prison and served 1 year. His father was an ex cop, a dirty cop that not too many liked but I think it still helped. If he had the drug charges put on he would have gotten 20 years. The other kid, Alex Moriarty I knew most of my life from school and he got 9 months.

This is why I hate small cars and drive big cars or trucks. I may be fast but I never race on the street. I watch too many of these young punks in rice machines who don't know how to drive and think they are COOL because they are fast. If I get hit by a Honda civic in a 82 regal it's safe to say I may not get harmed.

What drove through that Civic?

f-350 wish i had a pick cause it looked like it rolled into a tree (70mph impact rather than a 140mph total impact). the people in the truck walked away

I got hit from behind on the right side of the back by a cavalier when I was driving a GP. He was driving at high speed and shoved me on a 45 degree angle into the car in front of me....I hit him hard enough to buckle the back of his can and he ended up slamming into the back of the car in front of him...the last car to get hit any my car were the only ones able to drive away but I spent 5 years in physio and have a back that reminds me everyday of the accident.... I'm thinking the idiot had hit me straight on instead of on the corner pitching my car on an angle into the car in front I wouldn't have twisted my back when I hit the guy in front..

I agree with you but the size of the car doesn't always help..if I had a smaller one he might have made it around me... 8)

I have seen some nasty wrecks myself worse one was a 96 impala that got ran over by a semi the driver fell a sleep everyone in the impala died 3 kids and the parents in front seat. That civic pictures is why ill never own a small car in a wreck with something like a truck your dead.

No matter what you were driving, the chances of surviving a 70mph T bone from a 4 ton (unladen) F-350 are almost non existent. It would chew through a G body just as easily as that late 90's Civic. I have seen plenty of G bodies in junkyards with pretty ugly wrecks that obviously killed the occupants. In fact, the Civic is probably safer in most accidents due to the airbags and crumple zones. G bodies don't crash in a controlled manner with designed in failure points. Remember, they were designed in the mid 70's (for 78 intro) when the only car companies that were designing cars to crash well were Mercedes Benz, Citroen and maybe Volvo.

+1, but id rather wreck a late 90s civic any day over a g-body. Thats why id rather be in a civic vs my regal. Oh yeah...and its saftey.. uh..stuff.

We have a compact demo derby class here a 94 civic hatch back took one good hit in the rear end from a pinto. This was in mud so it was maybe 30mph the rear wheels of the civic was no longer touching the ground the driver was hurt they had to cut him out of the car.Yes 70mph your pretty much dead but i rather be crippled then dead.Newer cars ain't safer don't believe some of the bs car makers feed people.I have been body work for a few years what i have seen a bigger car with a frame handles a wreck better then a unibody.I had a 01 crown vic that needed a front end it rear ended a newer monte carlo and totaled it.The crown vic was still driveable. The im making is size matters you won't catch me in a small car.

Yes, but thats just more energy transfered into you than is absorbed by the car. Its well known that older cars can survives impacts alot better than newer ones. The trade off is that your more likley to die or get seriously injured. Also the fact that you ran into a car that crumpled is why your car is still in good shape, had you ran into another crown vic or older car that didnt have crumple zones, the outcome would be different.

There was no surviving the wreck shown here, in any car of any year.
