If you just bought it take it back,They will give you another one.

i have a yellow top never had a issue with it going on 4 years now its still going strong

Is something drawing on the battery that kills it in 5 days?

I have the red top and only had one problem with it. Could not hold a charge after storage (kind of my fault for not charging it over the winter). So I went to pepboys and got another one. Still have not had one problem with the new one to date.

I could be wrong but shouldn't you have a red top under the hood? Yellow top is a deep cycle.

A co-worker of mine had a red top. It wouldn't hold a charge. Kept dying on him and would have to jump it. He did find out his door switches were sticking and causing a slight drain. He fixed the switches and it would still die on him. He called Optima and they said that if there batteries go completely dead once or twice the battery is litteraly shot becuase it has something to do with it being dry cell.

optima batteries use to be good and dependable, now it's not uncommon to new ones that are bad. Some of my friends who use to use red tops won't go near them
