Your first set of wheels......

My Monte is my first set of wheels. Been with me since '90. Had to share it with my brother at first (king of the neutral drop/trans killing) & of couse the old man used when he went whoring around. After '93 she was all mine. I think I still have most of the car still but that is depending on what I can remember that is original to the car.

The Cutlass is my first set. I bought it from my parents neighbors the summer after high school in 2001. I thought I was sh*t at 18 years old with this big black 2 door with cushy tan seats and a V8 lol!!!!!
When the neighbor's first brought the car home I knew I wanted it, I was around 13 or 14 maybe. He wouldn't let me buy it until I learned to drive it since it had the ole big steering wheel and one finger control. I paid weekly on it, and only paid $1,400 for it!!!! The damn amount of moola that's been irresponsibly dumped into since 2003 is hard to fathom, but it's mine and I don't anybody for it!FB_IMG_1446952682112.jpg

73 Camaro LT. 350/350/3.73 posi, Centerline Auto Drag 235/60/15 & 295/50/15, roll cage, aluminum firewall, rear seat delete, no a/c, sticker bombed headliner board. AND remember those wedge-shaped Pioneer speakers that sat on top of the rear package shelf? Circa 1985. Those were good days. I raced the sh*t out of that car...

My first car was a 72' Nova SS (factory gold with black interior) that I bought when I was 15 with paper route money, I drove it a few times illegally with no plates, insurance or driver's license until my neighbor the same age as me told on me and my parent's took the keys away and grounded me.

When I first started driving my dad bought a yellow 1980 Datsun 210 4dr from a guy he worked with. He made it very clear that it was HIS car, probably so I wouldn't abuse it. Obviously I did when he wasn't around but I really did take care of it and cleaned it up a lot. In fact, I got him $1800 for it when I was done with it a year later. He didn't even offer me a commission.

My actual first car came along when I was 17.chariot.jpg

It was almost a driver when I bought it but needed a lot of loose ends tied up and eventually became my primary transportation. I ran 2 different flatheads and 2 different 283s before it got wrecked 7 years later (long story, not my fault).

I still have it -- in spirit. Obviously a lot had to be replaced. The chassis and running gear is all done. Still waiting on my brother to do the body and paint.

I really dig it. Everyone i come across while driving it or gassing it up always wants to talk about it. One of my favorite recent interactions was as I was spending over $3 a gallon (yay) filling it with 91. Guy one pump over saw me pull in and says, "Man that thing sounds and smells way too good to be running off of the crap they sell here." and he got in his truck and left. 😀
