Your first set of wheels......

1974 chevy impala 2dr. 350 4bbl w/ rebuilt th350. bought it from my grandpa's shop for $350, and used to joke that I bought it for a dollar a cubic inch. 6 months later, the #1 rod decided he had enough, and took out the oilpan on his way out.

looked like this, but blue, and not in as nice shape as the pic...

Had a 81 Ford Courier that my dad bought to make a trailer out of. I gave him the $50 bucks he paid and fixed the cheap plastic oil pressure gauge line that broke spewing oil all over it. Also the 5 speed trans would get stuck in 4th gear so I had to learn how to get it unstuck. Beat that thing really hard for two years before I got my '78 elco when I was 17. 305/th350 combo that I abused. I put 4 small blocks through it and put100k miles on it before I got other daily transportation. I still have it but it needs alot of help.

83 delta 88 was given to me when pops bought an 86 Bonneville in '90 or so. First car I paid money for was a $250 - 1976 Monza Spyder ( still want another ) that I promptly drove from Ontario to Alberta in 1991. Cars seemed so much cheaper then

I love how everyone except maybe 3 of us started with GM products.

You bring out a good point. When I was young GM had a world of wheels show that would come into town and Dad would take us. It was something we all enjoyed and I have been a lifelong GM person. For daily rivers, Delco-Tech shops, GM training centers and the like. I bought my first Toyota truck last year as the last 3 chevy trucks that i bought new were duds. One the engine at 100k had to have cam and lifters, a 2016 the paint came off at 2 years on several panels, 2018 the trans acted up too much. Local dealer was awesome but was too much to overcome. I like my Tacoma

Heading south for Spring Break, 1986. I bought it for $2200 after a drunk driver took out the wagon my parents lent me to drive.

GM lost my parents by this time, as my Dad had three Chevrolet lemons in a row. The 1976 wagon got cancer all over it within four years. The 1971 wagon ate the differential. The 1980 wagon flattened the cam at 78,000 miles (wish I had put a crate 350 in it in high school auto shop, but Dad said 'no'). He bought a Honda in 1984 and stayed with them ever since.

My first car was my 1982 Camaro Z28. I worked 3 jobs while going to high school to buy and build it. It was a basket case when i bought it. Hours of sanding peeling clear coat and fixing rusty wheel arches with my dad got it to this state after about 2 months of work in my free time. It eventually ended up with a pretty stout 350 that pushed it into the high 11's low 12's with no stall and 3.21 gears with a Borg Warner 9 Bolt rear.
