Oh, you mean AUGUST, the one month of the year that now might actually be warm enough to open the main door and let the humidity in?

Right now the Weatherheads are alternatively babbling about a Colorado Low and now a Texas Low, one or both of which are supposed to be heading north to interact with the Polar Vortex that is supposed to be responsible for all the cold air because the polar ice has melted and the winds can suck up moisture from the Arctic Sea. (Which, as a side bar, is the reason why all the polar bears are immigrating to the south)

The only thing here is that they don't believe there is any relevant population living between Manitoba, (think north of North Dakota) and Southern Ontario (think upstate Michigan and New York) So all we get by way of accurate information is bupkus.

This is what happens when your father in law was a plumber pipefitter in the steel mill.

I won't ever get rid of it, but it needs stored in a new place. I never use it. It now will go to the garage attic.

Be nice if you were to build a box or crate for it; somehow an old wooden ammo crate might have the basic internal dimensions needed to start with.

In my own shop I actually turned up the heat from 50 to 55 so that I could do some finish welding on the mounting tabs for the Indian front fender. Then I turned the heat back down. With the wind chill the local temps are as much as 20 below F. and no change or warming is being forecasted for the week at the minimum. I am not leaking heat like was the case last year; the heavier top gasket on the main door took care of that, but the man door is still bleeding warm air and the fix for that will be me having to dismount it from its frame and either rebuilding it or making a new one. I may be able to re-use the existing skins but at least one of the frame studs has to be warped because the inner skin does not lay flat against the door sill and multiple attempts to tease it into place have failed.

Time for that u-haul blanket approach. A pain in the butt added value heat retention.

And you have just reminded me that I actually do have one of those furniture blankets, still in the bag,out in the shop. Might be in the cargo bay of my Van. Worth a look if I can summon the energy to want to be outside.

Still trying to budget time to make my garage more functional to work in. Now that I know the Elky will sit for about a month out of the way in the small garage, I can put some more time into cleaning an re-arranging the main garage.

Would love to replace this tired clapped out POS, but it works for filling tires for now.

At least with the Elky not taking up space in the garage I have room to clean.

It's still a mess, but I'm off work next week. I have some house sh*t that needs taken care of, but should get some time in the garage.

Will see what the supervisor lets me get done.

It's nice to have a clean non-cluttered shop. Just close your eyes and throw stuff out. That is an antique compressor for sure.

How I use the garage now is different than when we moved in. Now I'm trying to undo 20 years. I started working on better organization and placement of what gets used most.

But yes, I need to purge some stuff. My father in law used my garage as a collection point for some of his stuff. I'm glad to have the stuff, just some of it's not used much.

I'll work through it. I'm getting closer to a clearer picture of how I want it.
