    Bad Head Unit??

Having problems with my speakers cutting out randomly, all four at the same time, only when the car is running. My subs keep playing while the others act funny. The weird thing it doesn't happen consistently. For instance, yesterday the system worked fine in the ACC position, but once I started...

Axle Play...How much is too much?

So to rephrase my last post. The slop seems like it's between the AXLE and differential. Further research has turned up that some of the F-body guys have the same axle end play problem with Moser axles. Apparently the c clip groove was machined wider than stock. Has anyone here experienced...

    black or chrome?

I don't think Black 8's would look right. Nor would blacking out the trim, just my two cents. I pondered the exact same thing you are a couple weeks ago, but my motivation for getting black was because they were cheaper. I ended up scoring some aluminum Outlaws on craigslist, minimal care and no...

    SBC Belt/Pulley system

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system I have a March Performance setup... I don't even want to think of the godawfull amount I spent on it, but that was years ago and what's done is done. Now they offer a cheaper non-polished version. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MCH-22011-09/ If I could do it...

    $$$ for non AC box

I've got and entire setup from a Cutlass except for the under the steering column cover. Has the box, working blower motor, ducts, controls, short glove glove box, etc. I paid a pretty penny for it, more than the what has been the suggested selling price, but am willing to make a deal. PM me if...

Axle Play...How much is too much?

I've had everything replace except the c clips. The TruTrac has it's own set of gears that eleminate the factory spider gears. There almost no slop between the ring and pinion. It's between the ring and differential gears.

Axle Play...How much is too much?

Had my rear end rebuilt. Moser axles and a Detroit TruTrac were among parts installed. Upon driving, I noticed a clunking sound going over bumps and occasionally when making turns. Took it back to the shop where they noticed what they think is excessive slop in the differential gears. They could...

is the olds 307 really that week

Not sure what the advertised mpg is from the factory, but that seems poor. I never calculated my mpg, but I could go about a week on one tank of gas if I was just going to and from work, school, and a little running around. Yes, plugs and wires will make a difference if yours are tired already...

is the olds 307 really that week

I don't have any knowledge about reconfiguring the vacuum lines (I would like to gain some, though) but I can say that eliminating the smog equipment alone can actually hurt your mpg. This is based on research, testimonies, and logic. My 307 ran great and sounded awesome, until the rear main...

Body Mount/ bushing replacement what do I need to know?

I had a hole like that in mine. Didn't have the time or resources to weld in one of those bushing mounts like gbodyparts sells. I ended up taking some scrap sheet aluminum, about 1/16th, and made two pieces about the size and shape of the frame and cut a hole for the smaller bushing to fit...

    Wheels for an '85 Cutlass

Long story short, my current rims are tweaked. I need new rims pretty quick without spending a lot of dough. I have 15x7 with a 235/60/15 tire all around. I would like 8" in back, and would also like to be able to rotate my tires. Jeg's currently has some blemished Cragars for $49/piece...15x8...

    Pics of your Lowered Cutlass

Took my wheels off yesterday to measure the backspace, It's 4.25" and like I said, had to put a 1/4" spacer on the fronts.

Body Mount/ bushing replacement what do I need to know?

Same thing happened to me. A bolt snapped in half trying to get it out from the bottom. I used a mini torch to get it glowing and then used an ez out drill bit to get it out from the trunk side.

Body Mount/ bushing replacement what do I need to know?

That write up was very helpful to me when I switched out my bushings. I had to move the wood tee along the body to get it high enough to remove all the bushings. I didn't remove any of that stuff. The best tip I can give you is to use a lot of PB Blaster. Get a couple cans and soak the bolts...

3 lines to the tank on my 442???

Depends on the pump. My factory Olds 307 had a fuel pump hooked up to a return. The SBC i put in currently has a pump that doesn't require a regulator, nor a return line. I just capped off the hard line and left it in case I need it later.

Richmond gears are now made in India

Cheese n rice...I just wanted to let those who didn't know, know, you know. I ordered mine from Summit and they are exchanging them for some Motive gears (which I don't care if they're made in India because they have held up a reputation of being a good gear, plus they state Made in India right...

Possible to install a hideaway sub?

Yeh, mount it to the shelf and cover it up. That'll be the easiest. I have seen someone put a sub in the spare tire well. Don't know the measurements, but I just had a thought of trying to fit the bazooka in between the spare tire and the rear quarter. you'd have to fab up some simple brackets...

Richmond gears are now made in India

I'm sure a lot of you know, but for those who don't...I just found out today. I bought a set of their gears thinking that I was supporting an American made product. Get them from UPS today, box has Made in USA printed on it, but I open it up and a Made in India sticker is staring right at me. I...
