    1986 Grand Prix TH200-4R

There is a TH200-4R for sale locally for $250 out of a 1986 Grand Prix with 86,000 miles. Would this be a good transmission to upgrade later? I plan to get it behind a maybe 450 ft lb sbc 383 and fixing it when it breaks.

    Removing Stubborn Exhaust Nuts

I'm replacing my head gasket on my daily driver because it overheated when the plastic water neck snapped off from heat cycling. I need to remove the nuts holding the headers to the downpipe but they are heavily corroded. I have already snapped off 2 of the 6 and would like to get the others...

    2" Drop Spindles

It looks like the Belltech drop spindles have jumped in price. I found these : http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1982-04-C ... 24943.html They appear to be the same for about $35-$40 cheaper. This is the cheapest price I've seen. Just thought I would let anyone who may be looking into drop...

    Calculating RPM and MPH

Quite often I come across a post relating to speed with a given final gear ratio and gear of transmission. This is usually looked up on one of a variety of calculators. This is fine but I thought maybe some would like to know what that calculator is doing with the information you provide. So...

    Quench

Gonna be running a small dome, around 8-10cc,forged piston in a E85 fueled 383 chevy with Dart Platinum 215s with Scat H-beams. Was wondering if anyone had any recommended quench specs or experiences running a tight quench in a high compression motor/etc. Thanks, Dan

    62-67 Chevy 12-Bolt

Does anyone know whether a 62-67 chevy nova 12-bolt rear will fit underneath our cars? Will it work with aftermarket control arms like the 68-72 12-bolts? I was also wondering whether or not the width would be close. The ad says that the rear is 58" end to end and in the photo the brake drums...

    Cold...

I know this has been discussed before but... I was walking the mile to class in the frigid negative degree weather and all I can think to myself is how much I wish it would warmup so I can finally get started on tearing apart my front clip on my monte. This ia probably the worst time of the...

    Harmonic Balancer

What is the reason for different O.D. harmonic balancers? Say I have a sbc 350, why would I pick a 6 3/4" balancer over an 8" one or vice versa? Any other advice or knowledge is appreciated. Thanks

    Engine bay wiring

What wires in the engine bay need to be there if you're just running a starter and alternator? I'm not running A/C or a heater. Nothing is electric besides the wire to the alternator and the starter/battery wiring. I understand this is kind of a vague question but any help is appreciated...

    MOOG vs. Speedway Kit

I was looking online and found a steering component kit on Speedway Motors website. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1978-88-A ... 35242.html It's a pretty complete kit and much less expensive than buying all MOOG parts. I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the benefits of using MOOG...

Good Deal on 2" Drop Spindles

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G705/ That's a pretty darn good deal on 2" drop spindles if anyone is looking. They say they are for s10's but they also work on G-body's.

    Pinion Angle/Adjustable Upper Control Arms

The importance of buying adjustable upper control arms is so that you can set the correct pinion angle right? Is this because the rear yoke on the pinion needs to be parallel with the slip yoke connected to the transmission in order to prevent driveshaft vibrations?

    Clarification

On my 1983 Monte Carlo, there is a CL badge next to the sail panel windows. I was wondering if this means that the car is a Monte Carlo CL. What I mean by this is, is it a Monte Carlo LS/SC with a CL trim package? Or is CL a model by itself(my personal opinion)? Any clarification would be...

    Movie Monte

If any of you haven't seen it, Training Day is a pretty darn good movie. I recommend seeing it. But anyways...in it, Denzel Washington's character drives a late 70's Monte Carlo that is clean as hell. Leather interior moonroof and everything. It's probably one of the most badass Monte's I've...

    Header Clearance

Since swapping my 383 into the Monte, my passenger-side Hedman longtube header will not fit as it runs into the frame/A-arm. I suspect this is due to the World S/R torquers are dimensionally slightly wider than the stock 305 heads. I was wondering what the best fix for this would be that is...

    Kicking myself

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrole ... dZViewItem I kick myself everyday because I didn't wait and find a better condition car. Granted, I got my 83 CL from my dad who bought it back in 83, but I still wish it was an SS somedays. One of these days I'll get around to posting pics on here...
