I was actually just thinking of doing the Plasti Dip coating for my bumpers. I have seen several truck bumpers coated in the stuff and it seems to be holding up great for those guys. There is a guy on the GRM forum that Plasti dipped an entire Mazda FD
So far today did a little rust removal and started prepping the rear axel I am swapping in. Aside from that been cleaning up the shop more getting ready for the engine swap and for moving the Invicta in.
Cleaned up the new rear axel that will be going in. Gave it a quick paint job and installed the Jegs diff cover that supports the bearing main caps.
Also started to clean up the minimal rust in the passenger side floor.
Worked on the 403 clean up a bit more today. Got the old cast iron intake of f!@% that thing is heavy. Set the Edelbrock on just for kicks. Soooo much lighter.
Go out and have fun worry about the fine tuning later on! Try and get some pics or video to share with us I would LOVE to see some more G Body racing stuff out there. I am hoping to run my Cutlass as some AutoX events once it is done just for fun. I actually thought about building one car...
Well the last couple days I have been working on scraping all the crap off my 403 to get it ready to go in the Cutlass. While I have this thing out and it is easy to get to everything is there anything I should look at doing? Not looking to go extreme with this engine, it will basically just...
I have a smaller bolt on one that is going on my car. Again also for that 80s bolt on look and also this will be going on one of my aluminum hoods so I could not get a steel one to weld obviously. I will cut out the skin und the scope then put a screen in to help keep crap from being sucked into...
I havn't. Someone told me to try it but I couldn't find any in town out here. For automotive in town we have a Walmart, a Baxters and a NAPA. None of them are that well stocked
Well I worked on the 403 a bit more today. Bought a new jug of Simple Green concentrate and mixed up a batch that was on the strong side. About an hour and a half later I got ONE side looking fairly decent. When I started you could hardly make out the "403" on the side of the block. Yes the...
Oh yeah I guess I forgot to mention that part. Got married back in May to my girlfriend of 4 years. She is the one I have posted picture of helping pull weeds out of the engine bay of my first Olds.
Now I am trying to figure out what I want to do with the DX block. Got a guy locally that...
Minor update started to get the lines disconnected from the DX engine, drained the radiator, removed the aluminum hood (holy crap does that not weight hardly anything) and started cleaning up the 403. Done with school now so hopefully I will have more time to work on the car. Almost sold all...
oh finished up school including writing a 35 page senior thesis. working full time getting caught in the lay offs and now looking for work and doing some side work installing monitoring systems in a farmers field to measure soil saturation levels. I still need a double hump crossmember but then...
Yanked off the aluminum hood (damn that thing is LIGHT), started pulling the lines from the diesel engine getting it ready to be pulled, drained the radiator, blew 30+ years worth of crap out of the vents and started cleaning up the 403 that will be going in it.
Yeah I was actually thinking about seeing if the bottom of the seat would have enough "meat" to drill a second set of holes. More than likely I will take a flat piece of steel and drill the holes to line up proper and just bolt it up. Should be easy enough. Those seats actually only ran me...
