Wow.....my take home pay is certainly not 35-40% higher than it was in 2018.

If I got bored enough I could try to dig up some sales of used parts to do apples to apples on those too.

Most increases are justified for costs but I can't help wonder how much gouging is going on since everything is going up it's easier to blend in.

Inflation, manufacturing supply shortages, cargo container import delays, labor shortages etc. etc. unfortunately drives up costs in every aspect of life now. The new normal SUCKS!

I was looking up some G body Walker exhaust numbers the other day, NON EXISTANT now! Parts, if you can find them, are either high or discontinued. I think companies are doing catch up, still, and don't have the resources or time for the parts that were only 1%-5% of their annual sales. This in turn drives up parts you see still available on the individual basis selling on eBay and similar sites and what not, some astronomical, supply and demand at its finest. Seems like the hobby is getting harder and harder to maintain.

Here's one for you. Snap in center cap with Olds rocket emblem for SSII/SSIII wheels 73-88. The emblem itself is more for the G-body non-raised style rocket.

The 442 center caps are discontinued, but still stupid money. Set on ebay for $470-ish shipped plus tax for a set. Real GM ones, not the Chinesium.

GM list price $141.85. EACH. That's $567.40 for a set of 4!!!!!!! (43 years ago they listed for $10.45 each)

Cheapest I've seen the repros were $55 each.

It's great when you bust out a receipt from a few years back then look at the current price. Makes the price increase from when I bought the Holley 4175 to pre covid look like a deal compaired towhat it would cost now. Where you going to find a brand new Holley carb under $200 now?

Used parts will ramp up at an exponential rate. Basic laws of supply and demand. Just understand used parts may come from someone parting out a G body who knows the market value or it can come from someone who is getting out of the hobby and needs the space in their garage. I have been on both sides. Like the shittalk regarding my asking price of an 8.5 and some parts I got tired of trying to sell and threw them out.

Some manufactured parts like a creeper, crossmember, mufflers, tires will have competition which will keep prices in check as manufactures and vendors compete.

That's just how things are these days. I put 4 frames up for sale since around November. Everyone moans and complains, can't find em, why's it all so expensive, blah blah blah.

Priced them from 125-200 each. There's been dozens of 'I'll take it, I'll come this weekend, I drive a truck and wont be back in town for three days but I want it, blah blah blah."

Today three got chopped, tossed in the redneck trailer, and dumped for scrap, control arms, suspension, and all. The 4th should get axed tomorrow, just ran out of space to safely hold it all with the gas tanks and sheetmetal that was already in there.

With all else that's going on, I'm not going to leave that many piles of stuff sitting anymore. Nobody wants it after a couple months? OK, it'll be a Hyundai or Kia.
