1978 olds cutlass, 260 V8, with a factory T-5 manual transmission. Kinda wished I would have kept that car for the uniqueness of it, but research showed the trans was to weak to justify doing anything with it. Didn't care for the single headlights anyway.

The earliest GM vehicle to use a T5 was an s10 starting in 82. The Mustangs started using them in 79. If your Cutlass had one it didn't come from the factory

Most 260s were coupled to the Turbo Hydramatic 200. A 5-speed manual transmission was also available with some 260-equipped vehicles.

It was a T-50, not a T-5. My bad. Had to go back to my manuals.

Mine is pretty interesting I guess. '82 Calais T-Top, buckets/console/floorshift, underhood & trunk lights, rally gauges, rally wheels, 231 V6, TH350, factory 3.08 Posi, manual windows and locks, no power trunk release, lower chrome moldings, sport steering wheel, AM/FM w/ Cassette, AC, and cruise. Not as interesting as some others mentioned here. I'm really lusting for a bucket seat car with rally gauges and column shift

Not a Cutlass but a guy I sold a crossmember to owns an 87 t-type that the original owner special ordered with a 307 instead of the 3.8 turbo.

Yeah, the guy probably figured the V8 has to way faster than some little V6 engine.

I am still looking for information on these early T-50s.

I purchased a 79 c10 pickup with the 5.7 litre Diesel . and what a dog that was. Nice truck
but the motor was all torque and barely 100 h.p. it ran ok for about 9 months and then it started shooting smoke rings out the dual exhaust when idling. Gradual temp rise to the point of over heating. Yup blown head gasket. Too much of a b*tch to fix.

I test-drove an '83 Malibu wagon with the Olds 350 diesel. Out on the highway, I put it into James Bond mode. Floored it and buried the traffic behind me in inky black smoke, with no change on the speedo. It was only four years old at the time. I should have bought it and put in an Olds - I wonder if it would have still been exempt from the Connecticut emissions at the time....
