I just got an e-mail, claiming to be a legal notification from Ohio, saying a settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Harbor Freight. The e-mail says the lawsuit is about pricing -- to wit, the practice of listing a phony "regular price" next to the actual price charged, which is claimed to be a "sale price." The e-mail says if you have receipts that show the two prices and claim you "saved" the difference, you can get a certain percentage of your total "savings" as a settlement, and if not you can get some lesser amount. The e-mail includes links to a web site:

www.nationalsalepricesettlement.com

If the e-mail is legitimate, the reason I got it automatically would be Harbor Freight's other annoying practice of getting your e-mail address so they can send you frequent and utterly useless spam -- which of course usually includes a number of these "regular" and "sale" pricing scams.

For a footnote, see the sig I've had for a while. :D

But seriously, I have quite a pile of stuff I've bought there, and most of it has served me well. I doubt I'll go to the trouble if nit-picking with this brain damaged bs.

I got that email too. I deleted it. I'm satisfied with everything I've bought there and am satisfied with what I paid for it, orherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

I'm not too fond of the suit happy nature of a portion of this country's populace.

I have bought many things over the years from HF and am also very happy with what I got for the money spent and some hand tools I have bought like extendable ratchets have become my favorite ones even with years of use.
I do usually use the 20% coupon or some other coupon and sometimes I have found it cheaper on their web site and I will print it and bring it in to my local HF and they will honor it.

I watched a little youtube video last night about breaker bars...i was glad to see the one I bought at HF for use at home held up as well as the Snap-on, Matco, and Mac versions tested. Even happier that I paid $14.99 for it, rather than $140 for something that seldom gets used here at home.

I'm guessing this suit is the reason the advertising now says "compare" next to the higher price

I like Harbor Freight and just realize that a socket from there is no Snap-on quality. I go in and buy pretty much with an open eye.
Please do not get me started on plaintiff attorneys and suit happy people

Class action lawsuits are just a scam for lawyers to buy a second home on the beach in Florida.

They get 40% of the settlement and 10's of thousands of aggrieved parties in the suit gets a check for $3.00 (which is their 60% less marketing /contact expenses) and we all pay higher prices.

Throw these away.

Well guys, I can tell you some stories as I deal with a lot of them in Miami Fl.. There is a need as there are some unscrupulous companies out there, people not equipped to deal with the system and from a different culture....but a lot of what I see is greed and thievery which ends up costing us all more money in the end

extendable rackets have become my favorite ones

Which, the businesses or the lawyers suing them? Either seems endlessly extendable. :p

(A Freudian slip?)
