Back in May of last year when I found my Regal on Hemmings, there were at least 3 or 4 others on the online market. Now they're impossible to find anywhere. In the past week I've met 3 different people who used to own one just like mine, and I know 4 other people who had one as well, yet they're no where on the market.

I guess now they're super desirable?? Or all in junk yards:blam:

1978 to 2017 is 39 years, maybe that's why

Thinking same thing. Time is definitely the enemy here. Just like a few posts I read on the forum where a few members were close to giving up on certain projects due to money or problems worse then thought. Older these cars get the harder it will be finding parts, cars breaking down more and more plus rust, and as we get older out priorities change. And some just lose interest. Nature of the beast.

Because they are relatively unattractive models?

I always look when I'm bored at surrounding craigslist and ebay for a 79 Regal Limited dark brown with camel vinyl top. It was my first car. I'd settle for a turbo coupe if I happened onto one. I have some very nice exterior and interior trim parts in my attic for when I find one. You are correct, they are harder to find and not as common as the 81-87. And like Mike said, they are not as attractive in my opinion but since it was my first car, I'll make the exception. Hell, I got the leader in unattractive G bodys and I love it

From what I see, the Buick from 1978 - 1980 were just driven daily and disposed of. The ones I recall seeing back in the late 90's had bumpers missing, rear frame arms rot and motors were not that powerful where teens could get the Mustang 5.0 and convertibles in the same dollar amount with more fun. The Grand nationals are a different story as they were marketed as the performance car. . This is only my opinion.

numbers, it all comes down to sales numbers. buick regals didn't sell well for 78-80. same with grand prix and lemans. best sellers were cutlass and malibu. fast forward almost 40 years, and you see that less cars sold then, equals less cars now. there were no halo cars of that era. the turbo sport coupes looked great in my opinion, but the turbo systems were problematic. that is not a dis on current turbo regal owners of that model, but they are a labor of love to keep running.

"Aluminum rims" with trim rings? They proud of that one. If the ever want to sell it, they better cut the price in half.

$7,500 is actually about right for a 25K mile car with those options.

The Buicks were pretty much the ugliest of all of the '78-79 A-bodies, but if somebody likes them, that is the one to have. $7500 is a ploy for a $6500 cash offer, and if it was a MC or GP with those miles/options it would probably sell @ $7,500. Jeff Dunham would buy that one at that price if he knew about it.
