For those with more money than me, here is an outstanding example of a 1978 Grand Am SURVIVOR.
My pockets don't go that deep. But my keyboard was wet with drool looking at it...............I made it
my background on my laptop.............yes I liked it that much. The dealer sent me pics, it looks very clean.........takes me back to the days when I had my head in the engine bay or on my knees detailing and polishing until it looked showroom new.

Grandamman, I just checked out your link. Funny you mention the Beaumont, the 301 is much more Pontiac than the Beaumont and the Made in Canada Pontiac's, which were like most 80's G body Oldsmobile's, powered by the sbc since at least the 60's. My ex BIL had a 69 Beaumont in the early 90's, an interesting car.

I would love to have a 68 or 69 Beaumont. Best of both worlds IMO. Pontiac inspired with a factory big block.

Well, if the spirit moves you, please send me a private email. I'm not sure which owner of the GA/CA you were dealing with. I was dealing with a gentleman named Thom in Tucson. He was very sociable and helpful as my interest in the car was growing. The GA/CA needed a lot of work to restore and from what Thom told me, someone in either Las Vegas or Nevada bought the pair. I was late to the table after securing free storage and so forth and thus I missed the meal.
So, if you decide to secretly offer information on the one you described, I would like another opportunity to fill this dream of mine. Thx AZ

It was Thom I was speaking to. I didn't need another parts car and he would not separate the 2. The GA/CA wasn't a factory built car but a pretty cool build. He told me that a woman owned it before he bought it. She used it as a daily driver. Wrecked it up a bit too.
I've talked with the owner of the 4 speed for about 5-8 years now. I did finally go see it this year. I don't think they want to see it leave their garage. I'm trying to find a way to get it, and more importantly how/where to keep it. It still needs some work, so it's not a showroom cream puff.

So you recently contacted this seller and received pictures? I swear I saw that exact picture years ago. I'm thinking there was something odd about the car, but cant remember what. It does have TA or Firebird wheels. Not the crappy GA snowflakes.

Yes I spoke with the dealer......I asked if I could make an offer and was told the price is firm.
That tells me they'd rather keep it than sell it. It may be the crown jewel of their collection.

This is how the GA/CA looked when I drove it on the car club cruise around Tucson. Beautiful day and the car ran flawlessly. I was so happy to show it off to the other members and interested spectators.
Hard to believe that was back in Nov of 2014. My how time flies..............

That is a cool looking car. In my opinion, GM should have put that car into production.
From your lips to God's ears but GM wasn't listening..............I could see the model with the reversed Firebird hood scoop, with the
spoiler and front air dam and all the ingredients were there for a win win win (is that enough wins?)
But alas, we have met the enemy, and they are the GM bean counters. Who cares what the public wants? Let them EAT CAKE!

Agree, the Grandam CA was very cool looking with 4 wheel disk brakes and a 190 hp 301.

I think the Grand Am is such a balanced car, with the hood and deck being just right in proportions. The thin roof line is reticint of the series called the bubble tops back in the 60s with a very open appeal and very little visual obstruction. The sides are not flat but slightly rolled leading the eye to the trim along the bottom. Opposing lines compliment each other rather than fight for domination in the picture. I just see it as if I designed my own mid sized sports car, this is how I would see it, with the additional hood scoop as icing on the cake. That to me is the quintessential statement of my personalized car. But as with everyone, each of us are entitled to their opinion. This is mine. Take it or leave it. To each his/her own.

Here is my 78' Grand Am. I bought this car in 2002............and shortly after did a body-off. Along the way I replaced the 301-4V with a Pontiac 400-4V. Last year I had the seats reupholstered in the original material. I live on an island in the North Atlantic on the east coast of Canada. I know of one 79' GA that has been sitting (rotting) for years. Other than that..............I don't know of any others. BTW............she is not for sale.
