You getting your tail pipes from Mandrel Bending Solutions? Good stuff from there, that's where I got mine. Only place I know of that sells them by themselves.

This is what you need for true duals.

This is the x-member that I installed. Works very well with a Big Block and true duals.

Another night at the Auto Hobby Shop on base.

Got the shocks done... had to cut one out. Rides like a dream with new shocks and tires... and handles really better than I thought.. Since the tires are new and I had a good examination of the suspension, I decided to see how good she handled. Took me a few tight turns to build a bit of confidence, but DAYUM... WAY less body roll than I anticipated for such a larger/heavier car.. Very impressed.. reminiscent of the '78 TA and the '00 TA WS6 I had.. Actually a very nice compromise. Take into consideration you give up Ride Quality for Handling (unless you drive a Cadillac, and even then...) Granted, the TA's handled like they were on rails, but I am very impressed with the GP Handling considering the ride quality. Very Impressed indeed... Minimal body roll, stuck to the road very well..

Did an oil change, altho in my opinion it really didnt need one (Dipstick was gold, not black), but having no time frame or mileage I decided to do a 5w20 "washout" with a thin oil, and I'll run the thin stuff for about 1k and then put 10w30 Full Synthetic Amsoil in and call it a day for awhile. Purolator filter..

Next up! Headers, Duals, Flowmasters... but wifey wants black friday money, so... gonna be a few weeks..

Since I have a nice lull in activity, I think I am going to take a harder look at what Im dealing with as far as the exhaust I bought.

Hedman Headers, full length.. Pipes from collector to muffler, which are stainless and were on a GBody (Monte Carlo SS - 83 or 84) and the pipes were "Ovalled" to get under the stock crossmember.. but I have my doubts..

The guy I bought them from was very knowledgeable.. knew GBodies extremely well, so I have faith, but a little doubt lingers when I look at it from underneath on a lift.

$200 for the headers, stainless pipes, and two 40 series flowmasters... I cant argue with.. Well worth the price... but I have my concerns.. Where do the mufflers end with regards to a set of the mandrel bent tailpipes?

Also, karma looks good, but the current situation isn't... Meaning, I found a rear end.. posi... 3.73... 8.5... Bolt the thing in situation... $500

And I don't have it until the 30th of November. Sent the guy a message, with the pic of the grand prix.. asked if he would hang onto it until the 30th and offered an extra $100.

*crosses fingers*

I wouldn't run a synthetic. Just a conventional decent oil with a zinc additive for the cam. I use Valvoline VR1 in my engines, no complaints here.

Yeah, I wouldn't lose site of the fact that you still have a flat tappet camshaft. Today's consumer grade oils don't have the proper ingredients an older engine needs. As mentioned, there's VR1, Lucas Hot Rod, Brad-Penn, and Driven available. I was adding a shot of JB Heavy Duty Vehicle additive (polyolefin) to 15w-40 diesel oil, and that worked well, too. Or, throw some Break-in additive in there with a consumer-grade.
