After installing a new fuel tank and sending unit in the new build, I can't fill the tank more than 6 gallons before it spews out. This last weekend I dropped the tank and verified that the hoses (vent) were in the correct place. Then learned that the Spectra tanks seem to have this issue.

Has anyone found setup that works like it did on the original set up?
Does this issue still exist if you swap over to an efi set up like the Holley Sniper system with a new sending unit etc.?

Fill it slowly

It is a common problem

Besides filling it slowly is there another solution? Because I did try that, and at 8 gallons got splashed again. The last time I filled the origional tank was like 9 years ago and there were no issues. So if it's the aftermarket stuff that does this, why is that? Is it the tank or sending unit?

It's the filler neck that causes the problem. It doesn't vent correctly.

If you still have your old tank, remove the filler neck and swap it onto the new tank
I do have it. I'll take a look when I get home, but do you cut both off and join with a rubber hose?

yes,try and find a section of hose designed for fuel vapor if you can.(a dump truck style gas tank usually has some rubber sections as the filler is remote)i'm just not sure if a section of radiator hose will hold up to the fuel end.it might but i can't be sure.btw i had the fuel issue with my spectra tank and did the exernal vent mod like TURNA posted.

You can pull the whole neck out. It's usually only soldered or epoxied to the tank itself.

Just start rocking the old filler neck back and forth and it will start to break loose. Then just clean it up and jb weld it into the new tank

I forgot to ask, when did you buy the tank?
