I chatted with a Doorman rep today and they say that they have had no reported issues with filling the tank, if he's just saying that who knows? We'll just see what happens and I"ll report back . As I said if this doesn't work I'll go with a FI setup or even just go back to the original tank (which looks clean inside), and if that doesn't work, I then have a good reason to sell the car. Doubt I'd actually sell it, but I'll sure threaten to. I can't even imagine a world that you are out on a drive with some buddies and have to tell them to wait a half an while I get gas. My luck is such that if I were to cut the fill tube off and swap it, something is going to go wrong.

I recently installed the Dorman Fuel Tanks 576-354 from Summit. It is for a FI turbo regal.

I have only filled it up once so far. but i was able to fill it up with no splash back. I do fill on only 1 click though...

One of the first things I did when I bought the Grand Prix almost 3 years ago was fix the rear frame rails and swap the fuel tank to a Spectra premium tank and fill neck, never had any problems filling it.

Update: After installing the Dorman 576-351 I was able to fill it to 14.5 gallons (with about 2.5 gallons already in it) then about another gallon after that. I'm satisfied with this tank. The other nice thing about this tank is that it came already painted.

No spray back from it?
It still had a little burp, but I do remember always putting paper towels from the gas station under the license plate with the original tank for this reason. But I think knowing what I know now, I'll be able to run it up to 13 gallons on the 2nd click then drop it to 1 click without it burping.

Is it painted or powder coated?
Painted. But it's a better finish than the Spectra tank that I used Eastwoods tank finish on.

Anyone with a new "problem free" Spectra tank have a picture of the neck opening? I have one I bought last year that is a nightmare to fill. I am just curious what is different.

I have one, The problem isnt the "tank" The problem is the design.

It is not use to the newer pumps that pump fast.

If you had a car in 1980 do you remember how slow the pumps were?

Inside the filler neck there are 2 vents above the gas nozzle hole

Stick a large flat blade screwdriver in them and twist.

This will open them up a little more and allow you to fill fast.
