Got any proof of this?
Nothing I could demonstrate to you on here. But I spent many years working for a local performance shop where I got to remove and replace a lot of AN line that was petrified after less than 5 years. My test was bending it. If it didn't make any snapping noises then it was still good. But I pulled a lot of stainless jacketing off and the hose under it was was dry rotted. We also used to get a lot of complaints of the cars smelling like gas although there were no visible leaks. This is my reason using as little of it as possible. When possible, I will bend and flare to run hard lines. YMMV

Is there a good source for just the brake line that goes across the front crossmember?

I got my front crossmember brake line from InLine Tube.....worked out great! much better than me having to bend & flare em! (y)
bolted in place perfetly. I used Nickel Copper brake lines for the few new lines I had to make up for my HydroBoost install, getting rid of the factory proportioning valve on the frame and installing an adjustable proportioning valve required a few new brake lines to be made up. My Eastwood hand held brake flaring tool made the job easy peasy.
Here's a link for the tool

Why do you use lines from "the right stuff " I order there front brakes line for my malibu and everything looks correct like oem. I dont think there will be any issues when I install them in a few months either.

I like the "Right Stuff," especially the complete kit I got for my 1971 Oldsmobile Delta Royale convertible. This is 17 years ago. I talked to the Owner at Canfield Swap Meet. They don't have the patterns for that car. He tells me cut the lines off at the fittings. Label every end, fold lines and send them to him. I did and voila, he sent me new brake lines that fit like a glove, free! :) even though he sold the company, I still use them.

I bought all the fuel and brake lines from right stuff just havent had time to install them to give a honest review of install. Once I can work on my malibu in my garage as early as next month will have a yes or no to recommend them.

I used inline tube for for complete brakes lines, proportioning valve and trans cooler lines. Had to do a little tugging here and there, but they all fit up tight with no leaks.
