Sorry I wasn’t able to get more done in the time I had there Duke. But bodywork can be very time consuming, and the roof especially is a very large and difficult panel to work on.

However I hope I gave you the minor direction shift you needed to be better equipped and knowledgeable about what you’re doing, as well as provided you a very solid foundation on the passenger side roof which you’ll be able to run with now.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or if there’s anything else I can help with.

D.

Oh and by the way guys, the turbo LS monster lurking underneath the stock hood is a sight to behold and hear. The pictures DEFINITELY don’t do it justice. It’s so much more impressive in person. This thing is going to be an absolute unholy terror when he fully unleashes it!!!

You are very lucky! I would pay good money to have his expertise for a few hours!

It was my G-Body forum Christmas gift, I'm sure.

His deal was learn, get good at it and pass it on. I fully intend to do just that, and of course be there to help him If he ever needs my skills. A turbo 455 olds would be absolutely awesome. 😉

Got a few things done tonight.

Finished pulling the hail dents in the roof, hit it with the 36 grit and prepped for filler.

Then wiped down, blew it off and started the correct Rktpwrd method.

Did 3 applications to get it all laid on.

The top is the passenger side which is blocked out to 80 grit and nice and smooth. I'll start the driver side sanding process tomorrow. fill any lows and get it ready for stage 2.

While that was going on I pulled trim, tail lights, taped off stuff and got the windshield trim off.

I think I lucked out, so far no obvious rust spots there.

Corners both look good, or as good as GM left them.

Yes I have like 1/4" on one side and like 3/4 on the other. The trim hides it, but damn.....

I have decided that the front and rear glass need to come out, no use investing in this body work to have a hidden rust hole screw it all up in a year or two.... Further down the rabbit hole I go.....

Excellent work. Can you explain the use of filler over bare metal on the roof? I thought epoxy primer would be first? Confused... :blam:

Donovan suggest this method. I did some research and the filler bonds better to 40 grit prepped metal than to an epoxy or 2k primer due to better mechanical bonding. I also believe that the roof top wont be as prone to water intrusion, I think I would consider filler over primer on lower panels or rockers for that reason. Hopefully he chimes in to give a more experienced view.

Hey if Donovan says it's good then send it !!! Is that a fiber infused filler?
