What's a 455 worth these days?

If it runs and you can prove it I'd say between $600-$850 depending on vintage and mileage.
Buick people usually prefer "virgin" blocks so that will partly determine the price. The 75/6 heads are the worst ones by far, but if yours is a 70/71 it will have pretty good heads. If it's stock internally, the 70 will be worth more because of the higher compression. If it has good oil pressure with 10w30 oil (change the oil so you know for sure the dude didn't just fill it with 20w50) with a good ac delco filter then that is a BIG selling point for a Buick. Stock spec for oil pressure is only 36psi at 3,000 rpm, so don't be alarmed if it has that low of pressure. It sounds weird, but 10psi or lower is common at hot off highway idle. 10psi per 1000rpm is the rule. That's the difference between a $200 core or an $800 drop in and go engine. Maybe spend $100 and have the car chassis dyno'd? Not entirely necessary, but it will give a perspective buyer an idea of what they're potentially working with.
Lastly, afaik, it takes some engine mount ****ery to get a 455 buick sitting in there right, keep that in mind when selecting a new engine if you sell this one.

Any 455 is valuable here, people $1000 for a good running early core. Any Olds cheaper have J heads or is knocking. Ironically since the LS craze, anything Olds gas become more expensive. Maybe 5 years ago, I find them for $100 to $200. I picked up my current one in extremely good condition for $120. Now they are all $500 and up. Now a sbc, can't give those away.
The under 400 inch engines bring better money whether it be Pontiac, Olds, Buick, Ford, Chevy, etc. because the average guy is too squeamish to handle to large amounts of power unleashed by a large displacement engine. 😜

Every area is different, exact opposite here. Actually most of the BBO cores of nearly any make with compression and decent heads have knocking bottom ends when for sale. People rev them like a 350 on the stock bottom end, then boom. The guy had a 455 when I bought my Olds 350. He acted like the knocking 455 was solid gold, didn't ask the price. I got him down to $120 for the great running 76 350.
