looking for some help with torque converter lockup issue on my 2004r. I have lock up running of of a switch. Lockup was working. became intermittent. now does not work at all. i started with the most obvious easy stuff. check all my wiring to make sure plugs and connection had good clean surfaces. Replaced purple power wire from switch to trans plug as it looked pretty beat up and crushed in a few places from when i did my trans crossmember. with car off i checked continuity from switch to plug then the passenger side trans pressure switch above pan had continuity from power in to ground. but i can not hear the tcc solinoid inside trans clicking as i plug and unplug the 4 pin connector. have not dropped pan yet. fluid looks nice does not smell burnt at all. all other functions of trans are also fine. when the lock up did work it also only dropped between 100-150 rpm. thought is should drop more then that . Any help would be appreciated. not automatic trans guru by any means.

Check that the outside pressure switch is closing. Hook up the ohm meter with long leads and take it for a drive.

If that is working there is another switch inside the pan to check, Then check the solenoid should be 20-40 ohms across the coil assuming you just hooked into the "A" terminal.

when i turn on switch the solenoid inside the trans i cannot hear click at all. the pressure switch on outside trans if i put my meter on the 2 terminals it shows full 12v continuity . this is with car off on jack stands just checking everything. now that i am thinking about it i did not try checking the continuity with the switch off of that pressure switch. when i drop pan to check the coil is the 20-40 ohms with the switch on ? how do i test the pressure switch inside the trans?

It should drop 250 to 300 rpm. I am betting the solenoid is toast.

I would replace it, before you put the pan back on make sure you can hear it clicking.

"when i drop pan to check the coil is the 20-40 ohms with the switch on ?"

No you will disconnect the wires from the solenoid and test across the terminals with the ohm meter.

"how do i test the pressure switch inside the trans?"

Need to take it out and put it on another trans external pressure port and test with your ohm meter or rig up a fixture that allows you to pressurize the switch with compressed air.

how much pressure does it need. making a fixture for compressed air test is easy

Should switch between 70-100 PSI. At wide open throttle and the TV cable adjusted properly this port can go over 225 PSI so don't worry about hurting it at 100 PSI.
