Should I add bling to my engine to increase value or keep stock?

So I just bought an 87 Buick grand national and saw there were a lot of cool upgrades such as aluminum Pollys chrome parts etc. Would installing those increase the value of the car or does the next buyer want it completely stock?

I know it would be great for car shows but how would it impact resale value? Thank
Do what YOU would like to do, ENJOY IT!! I personally would set aside all the original items your changing out, throw them in a box and down the road if you do decide to sell, it will ad appeal to prospective buyers, or if you change your mind and want to revert back to original.

If its a performance upgrade why not ? Hold on to the stock parts or sell them to fund the new parts. I doubt when you go to sell the car you will have people walking away because it has a cold air kit, custom pulley set (RJC) and front mount LOL

I'm about factory looking. Any upgrades I do needs to look as if factory would have done it. It's your car so make it yours. If you want to sell it later there will be a buyer. After all, you bought the car from someone. Someone will but it from you.

I didn't have a picture to use as a reference so I guessed at how a factory 565 BBC should look in my Monte. ;)

Imagine if you did ALL that above to that 565, and then....it didn't start. That's when bling means nothing. If it runs great and always starts, then you can worry about bling. And I'm sure the basics were covered before any of those fancy hoses and polished parts went on that engine. If it's incorporated in the build is one thing, but just to add it before doing anything else...It's like waxing primer trying to make it look nice. Kind of a waste of time if you don't paint it first.

There is a difference...

Turbobuicks are trading at a premium to collectors who desire as much originality as they can get. More original = more money outside things like stage 2 engines.

In that sort of realm, bling adds as much value as stickers add horsepower.

Seems to be an abundance of assuming here. The GN has 62K on it, he stated its a 7 out of 10, its not some heap! He's also looking for a new upgraded exhaust too.
To not accessorize your car to what you like, because you could always improve performance reliability ect ect, is nonsense, to what extremes will you take this? Never buying a set of nice wheels, never buying upgraded dash accessories, gauges ect. The same people doing the preaching here already have most of this on THEIR cars lol :blam:.

IF his car was non running or ran poorly, of coarse address these issues first, The guy owns a GN, its apparent he has brains enough to address what needs to be addressed first, give him some credit here and stick with the original question.

#1-"Should I add bling to my engine to increase value or keep stock?"
SIMPLE ANSWER : Bling doesn't necessarily = more $ SO if you prefer bling and it makes YOU happy, AWESOME!! DO IT!

#2-I know it would be great for car shows but how would it impact resale value? Thanks
SIMPLE ANSWER : There has been cases it increases value, but rule of thumb, a GN in original form will always bring more coin.
