Bookmarked this for future purchase.
Writer (and some replies) mentions tight movement of shifter. I wonder if a couple thousandths inch of hand filing would prevent that.
Also, I wonder if removing the two bolts holding the column to the dash would make installation easier, or if they get covered too.
You can get to the column bolts no problem. They don't make this column shield thing anymore.

Grinding it off would be my choice. But that will require some cosmetic repairs (if your concerned). And it seems that you would want the column removed to do that to save the grinding mess inside your car.

I think if I cut thru where the two tabs meet on the top and the bottom I wouldnt hit the column with the wheel. As for the mess... it is a disaster already lol. At least all the seats and dash are out. I have a moving/welding blankets I can drape around the car as I cut. I was more concerned that under the shield would be a column cut to hell or something, but it looks like the shield just goes right over the column.

Unfortunately, ugly stuff could be lurking. You won't know until they're off.

That is always true, but I was more concerned that there were irreversible mods that were needed to be done with the column just to install it. But it seems like with it off the column should function just fine.

I'd just source another column. Because yikes.

Finding non-column shift columns suck.

You are out of your mind if you think I'd spend 100s of dollars on another column just not to cut the shield off this one lol. It might take me longer to swap columns than to just wizz wheel this one off.

You can sell the old one to someone who wants an armoured column collar... I imagine there is some nut.
