I ended up getting my fan turn on / turn off set points altered on my chip to better suit the 180 deg T stat.hello peoples: I decided to go with the 180. The guy who makes the chip recommends the 160 and says U can run a 180 but the fan will come on more. Speaking of stats I bought a high flow 180 stat and always wondered what the hell is that.

Not with no T stat & distilled water. I’m surprised you even got above 150-160 in the cool weather running like thathello peoples: I'm doowing a coolant flush before I change out the stat. This flush stuff says to drive around for days or just hours depending how dirty the coolant is. Right now I have no stat, distilled water and the flush stuff. Ambient air in the 50,s and the heat on full . I was surprised that the temp. went from 140 ish to 170 ish. I found it interesting as I thought my 86T would run a lot hotter.

hello: Did U run your TB without the chip change and the 180 stat. If so what happened.I ended up getting my fan turn on / turn off set points altered on my chip to better suit the 180 deg T stat.
My fans now come on at 188 deg F & off T 170 deg f
Maybe think about sending your chip back & re-burned to suit the new 180 T stat?
Nope, sorry I didn’t run it with the 180 until I had the chip fan turn on / turn off changed .hello: Did U run your TB without the chip change and the 180 stat. If so what happened.
thanks

140 ish to 170 f I would wonder if the flush had worked and that particulates had lodged in the ends of tubes .car may have run cooler until stuff started floating free and getting combed by the radiator core...a flush can very well "..require some back flushing " methods to be devised' to make particles leave the mixture .such simple methods as removing lower radiator hose and hooking a garden hose with flowing clean water into the cap fill area or switching the water onto the place were the top hose fits radiator sometimes dune without the motor running watch what comes out if at all possible. Common water is fine to flush with if above freezing. On fact I have read that 100 /% water is more efficient then a 50/50 mix and likely less corrosive..,I read that in a magazine years ago and have never seen it mentioned again ,I happen to beleave it....but for practicle. issues i run the mix , Some years ago water in the summertime was ok".... when a motor is pretty close to normal the thermostat is what governs its temp...in old worn or defective motors/cooling systems not so..good luck with that cooling project ,they can get annoying at times....hello peoples: I'm doowing a coolant flush before I change out the stat.
