LT1 swap into monte carlo
LT1 Swaps are relatively simple. Like Randy said. I used a 95 Cadillac Fleetwood Same as the B Body cars. Rescued the engine, trans and the wiring harness. Here are some of the things I did on my swap. I used the factory wiring harness from the donor car and removed...
Do you need the wiring diagrams for the LT1? If so PM me your fax # and I'll send them to you. I would keep the entire power train i.e. the 4L60E trans but if the 4L60 (700R4) you have is built then I can understand why you would keep it. I would first mark everything while removing it from the...
Dan, Are you going with the stock injection and soforth ?? give me some more details and I'll try to help you as much as I can . Let me know what you are keeping and what is going and I'll do the best I can.
Re: LT1 SWAP
Jarvis, I think Major Bill has got his installed and had some issues the last time I talked to him not running good or something ???. Mine runs great! I swaped a 1995 Caprice police car PCM to mine and holly cow she runs way good now ! But it's winter here and she's been under a...
just keep the under hood electrical center that was in he Caprice . You'll need that for the injectors/and PCM key on voltage. All I did was remove all the other maxi fuses I didnot need and mounted it to the rt innfer fender. You'll have to figure out the rt engine mount location on the frame...
LT1 into a 84 Monte SS!!! Need Help!!!!
check with your local parts stores. Some of them may have the ability to reflash your PCM but with a fatory program. If you want tweaking like removing the theft fuel enable signal then most likely you will have to send your PCM somewhere like here...
Ok I'm doing the same thing only my car is a 87 SS. I would strongly suggest a aftermarket wiring harness from Painless.

60502 is the part # and they are rather expensive. $700.00 from Jegs.comes with the VATS module. If you have the Cadi...
Thanks for the link to the site. I emailed him to see if he makes what I need for the area infront of the rear axle. Other wise I'll cobble something up to hold the body back there. might not look good but I'm no Chip Foose.
Dirtywhiteboy... no offence taken. I agree with ya. I would really...
Hey guys just had my Monte SS at my shop and on the hoist and found some disturbing rust issues. :( The left body mount at the bottom of the A pillar is gone!!! no bolt head ... just the upper part protruding though the frame. Also the body is rusted badly around the rear mounts in front of the...
LT1 engine swap
Progress looks great dude. You are just about where I'm at on mine. I've got the engine torn down and ready to go to the machine shop. I bought some heads off a kid that has a 97 Trans Am and he's doing a LS engine swap and removing the LT1 . Now I got some alluminum ones for my...
don't remove the belt!! That helps the reduce the emmisions!
Do go with the second carb you found on ebay. The E4MC model. May want to call the place to find out if is all set to bolt on or will it need to be adjusted after you install it ??
smog
86LL, The carb does in fact need an overhaul!!!! Judging from from the gunky build up around the top section. The black sticky stuff is not helping you. I think maybe just cleaning it off may make it run a little better! 2 or three cans of carb clean should do the trick. Spray the cleaner...
SS console
You should do a T56 six speed. I would think that the floor would be similar for the console to mount up . My friend has a 70 SS 454 and the console hole would be in the wrong place to a top loader trans shifter the hole is kinda off to the side for the m22. They make a kit for...
failed Smog
Well 86LL I would fix the rich condition! Code 45. The excess fuel is causing the high CO at the 25mph test. Sounds to me like you need a new carb of have it overhauled. I used to do lots of these back in the day. The E4ME carbs were kinda easy once you know what to look for...
