LS and restore in the same sentence? O-kaay......And that 17 year old helpful enthusiasm sounds like someone is thinking long range about having an Elky for when it comes time to head off the university. Not even going there on the wife vs project budget. Uh-uh, No way, me gone, bye-bye.
One thought, and I have mentioned this before, at all times during the teardown, cameras and cell phones are your friend; Take Pictures, Lots and lots of pictures, both wide angle and up close and personal. They will become your memory for what goes where if the time line on this takes one in the chops from reality. And don't depend on that memory chip either. Download them, print them to hardcopy, and build a reference binder to store them in. What you are creating is your own personal shop manual as well as a build history in case your insurance company wants to know what went into the project and asks for a visual record.
Apart from all this, just the obvious, couple of boxes of sandwich baggies and a magic marker or pen. Pull the bolts or screws, bag the bolts or screws, tag the bag,, what and from where. Even if they are rusted out junk, they make good samples to take with on that trip to the automotive hardware store.
Oh yeah, bandaids, first aid spray, and electrical tape and/or duct tape. If the bandaids don't stick to your skin the tape will, if and when your project bites you!! The spray is just to clean the dirt off and make you scream as you throw a turn or two of the tape over the damage, as tight as possible, to keep that flap of skin from getting caught and tearing some more while applying direct compression to the wound site to stop the bleeding and mitigate the mess. Gives the wife a perfect opportunity to come out to the garage check out the carnage and laugh at you. You can also use Crazy Glue as a sealant/skin bonder to glue the edges of the wound together. it will wear away over time or it can be removed using whatever the label suggests. Another screamer is a styptic pencil, like what people who shave use when they nick themselves with a razor. It will stop the bleeding of a minor cut or scrape (Insert screams and howls as necessary).
Are we having fun yet??
