I was hoping to have the crate motor in my wagon by now but little glitches keep holding things up. Mostly because Im so damn anal.
GM crate motors come with a set of nice shiny expensive plug wire retainers that even have the bowtie cut into them. They look great on the bench but theyre made for aluminum heads not cast. Only one rear bracket has holes that match the holes on the head. The side brackets have two holes. Head has one. SMH
I could drill a hole in the side brackets but the one rear one is too short. No metal to drill. I ran out to the dealer yesterday and spoke to the parts guy. He suggested looking for brackets from a Chevy truck or SUV. After I finish posting this Im heading out to the two local yards I deal with. Both of them have a ton of GM trucks. Hopefully I can find a set that arent rusted to death. If Im real lucky maybe I'll find a truck with the nose off so it will be easier to take them off. Its pretty cold out there today. LOL
But if I dont find a set at the yard, any suggestions on what to use ?
