My new build is slowly making progress.I started cleaning the block,but I am waiting on a set of engine cleaning brushes to arrive.
I do have the crank sitting in the block,and I was going to put the pistons on the rods,but after looking at the wire locks that hold the piston pins in place,I decided to have my machine shop,A&J Automotive,do that for me.

I should get those early next week,then I can mock up the rotating assembly and find out if I will need to do any grinding for clearance..
I asked Mike Lewis about the heads,he said that other than cleaning them and oiling the valve springs,they are ready to install.He installed and checked matching springs and tool steel retainers.
I had told him my app deck height,and with the semi custom Autotec pistons and 0.040 Cometic gaaskets,the quench height should be 0.040.
I did spend app 45 minutes on each piston top,sanded them first with 600 grit paper,then 1500 grit,then a quick polish with my Bush Super Shine aluminum polish;

Still quite a lot of snow here,and there is tons of salt still on the roads,so driving season is still quite a ways away.

I've been making progress,although slowly.
Got the main & rod journals plastigaged,rod side clearance and crankshaft end play all checked,and all clearances are good.
My engine cleaning brushes showed up,so now the oil gallery's and lifter bores are clean.
I spent lots of time on the cylinders with brake cleaner,wax & grease remover solvent and WD 40,and they are all nice and clean.
The threads in one of the head bolt holes were worn,so my buddy Mark made a couple of guides on his lathe so we got the hole drilled & tapped straight and we got a helicoil in there today.
All the oil gallery plugs and the rear cam plug are in.
The crank is in and so is the cam.
I'm hoping to mock everything up so I can measure and order new 7/16 Trend one piece pushrods.
Here are a few pictures;

Well I have been making progress.
All the clearances are good,the new pushrods arrived.
The bottom end is all done,and the heads are on.
I booked the local dyno at A&J Automotive for May 26th.
Getting pretty excited !!!
