Hey I have an idea,

Lets take something like a suburban, take the 3rd dow seat out and give it a 4ft bed, but make the back seat fold down when you need and have it be a 8ft bed regular cab when you want, and a 4dr pickup when you need it. It will be short and reuse a bunch of existing parts! Can haul lumber and plywood, but still haul a mower, pavers, or grill home from the homeless despot with the wife and kids! Brilliant!

Lets call it the mudslide, or the tsunami. Hmm maybe something more frigid,

Oh I got it! avalanc...... wait a minute!

I call it my Safari Van. With the rear bench removed I have an area 50" wide, 56" long, and 42" high. With both benches out I have 96" clear for the first 6" or so and then down to 86" near the ceiling . I keep a 50" x 100" x 42" utility trailer in the fleet for larger stuffs.

Its not a question of comfort or parking as 4 doors are obviously more ergonomic but to me it just looks a little goofy when the cab is larger than the box. Next truck ( if I get one ) will have the suicide doors and long box with a cap. Or if I can find an Oil Burner Barn Door 'Burban

I had a 2500 club cab ram with an 8' bed I parked in my house's garage (that can't face the street - an HOA thing). Trust me, my 6' bed 2500 club cab ram was way easier to park. Squaring the back end up with the garage with the 8' bed usually took a couple cuts.

The short beds are definitely easier to park. It's something I'm willing to give up for a longer bed. 1 or 2 trips to the scrapyard are a lot better than 3.

I think the retro trucks look good for a minute. It does look good though. As for a 6' bed, try putting a tool box in there and see how small the area gets.
Everyone's needs/wants are different. I've been looking for a "new" truck CC with an 8" bed for about 8 years now.

My truck is almost retro now.

You have no idea how badly I wanted to install a dump kit on my Ford. Maybe someday.

I dig the retro design. I don’t dig the big 3 marketing pickup trucks purely to upper class suburbanites by loading BASE model trucks with full leather interiors, heated seats, and those infotainment systems. These days it seems You can’t even pick up a base truck for less than 50k, especially if you want the V8 to haul heavier loads

Don’t even get me started on color options, Literally as I wrote this every single car that passed me was either white, silver, or gray. Not a single exciting color

*Nothing against upper class suburbanites (or leather interiors)

My musings in no particular order..

I like 2 tone on trucks

The CST10/Big 10 conversions just don't carry it as well as the originals did

I'm totally over leather seats in a truck OR SUV..after 10 years they're horrible

I entertained buying a new truck for a driver late last year. I really preferred a regular cab...good luck with that. Dodge (sorry "RAM" dealer had 9, Chev dealer had 3, Ford dealer had "0". The dodges can be had for about $24K locally with a 5.7
Ultimately what soured the deal for me was that you can no longer buy one with a shift lever, they all have that damn rotary knob

And 83MONTESS, that's not a crew cab as pictured... this is a crew cab! And yeah, parking can be challenging in the city

You'e right. I have a crew cab silverado with the 5 3/4' bed currently which is what I was referring to in the first part of my comment. The 2nd was just poking fun at people that think short beds are useless. Either way no issues hauling stuff for me.

I tried doing a barebones regular cab configuration on chevys website “0 available at dealers near you”

I also just saw a Nissan Leaf in a more exciting color than anything Chevy has to offer

Don't like, center section is painted too small, besides we want work trucks at real prices not the overpriced pickups they build today. Crank windows and no ac works for me with vinyl floor covering
