So, my 02 2500HD isn't eligible with 256,000 miles because I bought it used, and have never bought a new one. Go figure....

I dig the retro design. I don’t dig the big 3 marketing pickup trucks purely to upper class suburbanites by loading BASE model trucks with full leather interiors, heated seats, and those infotainment systems. These days it seems You can’t even pick up a base truck for less than 50k, especially if you want the V8 to haul heavier loads

Don’t even get me started on color options, Literally as I wrote this every single car that passed me was either white, silver, or gray. Not a single exciting color

*Nothing against upper class suburbanites (or leather interiors)

I actually tried to build and order a new 2015 Silverado when I was going to buy a new truck. I went to a dealership, and they ordered one to my specifications as part of their stock renewal.

I ordered a 1500 4X4 Single cab with a 5.3, power windows, locks, carpeting and an XM radio. With no other options, it came to $37,***. I ended up getting a fairly well optioned 1500 Double Cab with more options and a pile of rebates for $41,***.

There aren't too many base vehicles left on lots because not a lot of people want them. Even worse, base trucks aren't much cheaper than a mid-range truck and rebates are specifically made to subsidize the higher end trucks.

What most of you are missing is that the "crew cabs" your complaining about are NOT crew cabs, but now what they call a double cab. They used he called extended cabs. The crew cabs have larger rear doors. As far as the 8' box. I had an '04 Silveradi, ext cab 6.5' box. Worked great for me. If I needed to bring 8' lumber home it fits corner to corner, or laying flat with the tailgate down, or on the tailgate with it up. Then I got a crew cab 1/2 Sierra with a 5.5' bed. That just wouldn't work for me. Too short. I am not building or using my truck as a workhorse. I don't transport anything 8' long verynofter, hence no need for it all the time. But I don't need the cab room for my 6'3" teenage son. To each there own.

As far as a 3/4 or 1 ton costing the same as a 1/2 ton? You're nuts. Try an additional 10k if they are optioned EXACTLY the same.
