Was excited to open up my brand new carpet for my Cutlass. Came directly from ACC via Rockauto. Opened it all up and laid it out in our spare bedroom to let it start to lay flat until I install at the end of the month. Was super bummed to see that where it was folded in the box, one of the more aggressive fold points...wore off the carpet and there is a bald spot. Worse even it's on the passenger side floor and will be visible. Was hoping it would be under the seat and I could not worry about it...but shesh...Is this a common issue with their carpet kits?

Guess I will send it back and request a replacement.

Scrape some fuzz off under the still plate area and glue it on. Like a hair transplant lol

If it wasn't in an area that "could" see wear I would. But not gonna risk it. I'd rather it be correct. I am not hurry to replace it, so I'll get a fresh carpet and go from there.
Yeah I was going to say I had an issue with ACC but wasn't that, they should take care of that since you just bought it

Wanted to loop back on this. Rockauto got a replacement sent very quickly from ACC. I got it today and opened it up after I got off work. Layed it out and it looks a 100% better. No weird creases, no bald spots. To me...and I am no expert, looks like this is a more fresh production vs one that was in a box for months. Laying out now to air out and relax. Will be going in the Cutlass at the end of the month, Lord willing.

Side note...they told me just to keep the last carpet they sent. Rockauto requested pictures of the issues and ultimately said NOT to return it. So I have a claret/oxblood carpet kit extra now with wear mark on the passenger floor board. Got a local guy with a Cutlass that is more of a street drag car. His interior is close to the color of mine. If it is the same carpet color, going to see if he wants it for free to freshen his drag car up. Don't get me wrong it's a dang nice car already! But if I can help another G-body enthusiasts...we are all winning.

Maybe what Rock Auto initially sent you was a return and didn't get boxed up correctly, which led to the damage.

hello peoples: I'd just return it and if there's an issue with that and U bought it on a CC. Dispute it.

It's frustrating to receive damaged or incorrect parts but this situation sounds like it has a happy ending and caused no actual problems. I once got a free chrome bumper due to a small dent and it made my week- glad to see you passing that feeling along to someone else.

No need to dispute. Rockauto fully made this right with no issues or fuss. I was actually very impressed considering the run around some places give you. Re-ship turn around time was actually solid. Issue identified on the 31st and corrected with my new carpet here on the 9th. And it was huge box and shipped across country. 👍

RockAuto has almost entirely done right by me for nearly 20 years. I have totally mooched their database to analyze what fits across platforms. That's a lot harder to do now when using their mobile version. I further appreciate their search feature when I uncover a part and can't remember which vehicle it goes on. 😩

Glad to hear that ACC is still in business. And props to you for passing on a good deal to someone in need.
