I do like the idea of a Gbody-pedia. But the sticking point with that, IMO, is that if it kept with the same theme as the wikipedia, then anyone can edit it. It'd likely end up worse than a catagorized forum that had how-to's and tech information. Could you imagine GM crowd-sourcing technical information for their service manuals? Not that wiki's don't have merit, just that there's 2.7 million ways to skin a cat when it comes to tackling 1st-world G-body problems. I know at this point, AI-written stuff seems silly and easily spotted, but that's because AI is still learning from a lot of stupid people's inputs. GIGO. I enjoy the forum as is, some really cool ideas and methods are here for the members to use and keep their G-body on the road/track. And some of you guys have great senses of humor to keep things interesting. I just got my morning coffee so I know I'm just tossing words around disconnected and incoherent, but I'm simply typing as I'm thinking it.
There would be some opportunities for AI use in a forum-style such as this, I'd imagine. But when you start taking the human element out of a forum, people won't interact as much. Which is becoming more and more of a problem in society as a whole now as it is. I know every time I try to highlight something to copy/paste or edit it, microsoft wants to know if "copilot" could rewrite it for me. No, sorry, I sort of know enough English to get by. I don't need some twat of a program trying to "re-write" something that's originating in my head. I've always looked at the forums with this idealistic view: A G-body shell is sitting in the middle of a big garage, and all the members are sitting around BS'ing about the best way they would get that hulk up and running. Collaboration. There's your wiki. Bounce ideas off each other, mill around outside the garage and look at everyone's G-bodies they drove up in for inspiration and to generate new ideas, and finally someone puts down their favorite beverage and grabs a wrench and people follow.
Speaking of support, my supporting member stuff is due in like, 9 days or something.
Yeesh. Photobucket. I've never been spammed more than when I stopped using it. I started over 20 years ago using that dumpster fire. Was ok at first. I left a few hang-on photos on there when I gave it up seemingly forever ago, as they kept threatening to dump all the photos when they were going to start charging everyone for using a bucket. They were simply copies anyway, so I didn't GAF what they did with them. Sure, close my account. I don't care. Got messages for months with that threat. Ok, the close date came and went. To THIS DAY (acutally YESTERDAY- see deleted email below) they randomly send me a message asking if I want to keep my photos. WTF, phototrashcan? Anyone else getting these emails? I got their messages rerouted to trash.
