    Is this forged?

...a cast part, that's messed up. Also, it appears the parting line may have a razor thin parting line indicating cast to me. I'm no metallurgist, but from my experience, forged steel usually has wider parting lines due to the die shape. Oldsmobile forged crank parting line Cast crank parting...

Before I drain and check the Oil. (Possible Blown Head Gasket)

Just take an OAP sample. When I log back in I'll explain. But just get clear pickle jar label removed fill with current crank case oil. Put lid on it and let sit over night

    TOP DEAD CYLINDERS???'s

Nothing hokey about it, it literally is the mechanical motion of the Pistons on the Crank. Any V Block 4 Stoke engine with 4 or more Cylinders that have 2 Cylinders per Rod journal on the Crank in even multiples will be this way. First half of firing order will be paired with the last half of...

    Front suspention question

...Blazer spindles. The steering limiter is now not hitting the stopper in the middle. At full suspension extension. If the steering is at full crank, it can actually jump over the stopper. Some may argue that a car will rarely be in this scenario but it's should be mentioned for you to decide...

    Joke of the day

The hand crank says clockwise. Looks like OPEN to me, but I may be too old to be trusted with important decisions.

Automatic TH350 to TKX 5 spd swap parts list

I am compiling a list for my 70 Cutlass S but similar will be needed for a G body. I plan on buying everything but the TKX this year. My 330 crank already has a pilot bushing installed. I will probably run the Holley dash for gauges and speedometer once the 5 spd is installed. Here is my list...

    Grand National No Start problem

Plus three on the crank sensor. They're fairly cheap IIRC. Change it. Adjust it so it doesn't hit (turn the crank manually to ensure that it always has a smidge of clearance). What's the worse that could happen? It really isn't THAT difficult to change out I wouldn't think. The only other...

    Dumb timing question

I did but I think my issue was the start retard box I had. I would crank it like you say but mine had a 10 or 25 degree retard. I went right to 25 and I had all my issues. Being I couldn’t go back to 10 I was stuck but I had people tell me after the fact that 10 works better.

    Lifter valley holes plugged??'s

Usually was done to direct the oil to the front and back of the block to return to the pan instead of down on the crank.

    HP/TQ Guesses! (just for fun)

I would say 479 HP and probably 456 TQ at the crank. Hell rogue_ryder's Olds 358 with so so Procomp heads, smaller 221/229 roller cam and same compression made 436 HP and 471 ft-lbs with a 670 cfm carb. If old sbc Betsy doesn't beat both those numbers by a good margin, the HP especially, time...
