My 14 year-old alternator failed requiring a jump-start at a gas station from an upstanding citizen who happened to be driving a Mustang.
The best part was his mistaking the Tuned Port intake for a supercharger.:ROFLMAO:
We're expecting 8" of snow tomorrow which made today the official end of the season.
Put some gas in the tank, backed it into the garage and hooked up the Battery Tender.
It was a short season due to repairs that got delayed by higher priorities. Maybe next year...
Phoenix should be an X-body, a close cousin of the Nova. Too bad it doesn't have an actual Pontiac motor. Being able to easily swap to a bigger Poncho would help with its desirability, as would fewer doors.
As seen above, my Monte was recently towed home after the fuel pump quit. A Bosch replacement unit was installed and the car started right up. All set, right?
Nope. The new pump lasted about 10 minutes and the Monte rode home on the back of a flatbed for the second time in a week. Enough...
I'll have to back up a bit:
Drove the Monte to Musclepalooza on Memorial Day. No problems until next time leaving home, the clutch hydraulics quit. This appears to be a good time to upgrade the clutch pedal to a newer design that offers lower pedal effort.
However, this about the time both...
A Hurst shifter was original equipment on my '79 4-speed Cutlass. It wasn't the rectangular stick most commonly seen, more like oval with flat sides where "Hurst" was stamped.
The Saginaw transmissions that came in those cars were most unfortunate. I broke a couple with the 305 without...
I installed a pair of lights 10 years ago and didn't bother to wire them up until a couple of weeks ago. And then they didn't work until a test ground from the hood to the rest of the body was added. The braided ground strap sounds like a good idea but what ever works...
Made the 220 mile round trip to Musclepalooza on Sunday without issue. As a bonus, got an acceptable 23 mpg! Yesterday was supposed to be a trip to Patriot Place but the clutch decided to quit working while backing out of my driveway.
A set of hydraulics should get it going again but...
This thread petered out over a year ago but the topic resurfaced yesterday on the Hemmings Blog. The author of my HMM article gave me a heads-up as the blogger clearly remembers my car. 8)...
Completed the remote keyless entry today.
The door lock poppers are hit-or-miss but I'll tune them up next time the door panels need to come off. The trunk release button in the glove box never worked so this alone is an upgrade... 8)

Low budget mods this year:
Header gaskets and locking bolts, no more loose/missing bolts and annual header leaks.
Remote keyless entry module re-purposed from a '99 Monte Carlo. Props to MCSSdotcom member jman093 for the write-up.
I did this late last season. The plate bracket had been sitting in the pile of spare parts for years when I finally got around to installing it. Much better.
As for today: Took a look into the garage, it's still waiting patiently...
Still using the stock sport mirrors my car came with but they've been upgraded to power with a switch from a mid-90's Caprice and F-body motors.
Installed switch shown:
There was a 'baby LT1' 4.3 liter L99 available from 1994-96.
It will bolt to a 200-4R but you should look into whether you'll be able to connect your TV cable to the throttle body.
