    My GM Dealer sucks!

I went to the local Gm (Chevy) dealer for a door latch the other day (Not available from the aftermarket) for my other truck, not my El Camino. Anyway... The Parts guy wanted to charge me $128.00! I told him that I had my own business up North (Showed proof) and retired down here a short time...

    Carb overflowing

With ethanol in the gas these days, if any part of your fuel line is (Old) rubber, the inside of the rubber can separate and not only get stuck in the fuel bowl (N&S), but the rubber can clog the inlet carb nut (600 Holley). That happened to me last year. If I went over 50mph, the car would bog...

    El Camino (85') gas tank

So....I finally removed the gas tank on my El Camino. I had mentioned that I needed a gas tank sending unit because I swapped the V6 (Throttle body Injection electric pump) and installed a V8, using a mechanical fuel pump. I had installed a 1985 Monte Carlo sending unit because the parts store...

    sbc 327 buy opinios?

Yes..... The 327 was a good engine. However, the 350 with the same equipment has more low end grunt. (No replacement for displacement). If you had a light car, the 327 would be a good engine to build...they rev! Funny, I've never blown up a 2 bolt main smallblock, but I've blown up a few 4...

    Auto Appraisers (Adjuster)

I am Looking for an auto adjuster in Southern Florida. I need to get someone to write a repair estimate on my other car (Street-Rod). My own insurance company (Heacock Ins.) is busting my balls and only wants to give me $6,800. The back is hit and pushed to the right, the Nose is hit and moved...

    Gas tank fuel sender

I had mentioned previously, that I a not sure what size the gas tank is in my 85' El Camino, 1978-87' are the same tanks (17 or 22gal.). I'm told that they look alike (Length & width) from the bottom. Does anyone have a tank lying around that they could stick a tape measure, from the top (Sender...

    Gas tank sening unit

I'm lazy...I'll just bring a 1 gallon gas can and drive til' I run out (I'm about empty now), add the gallon and head to the nearest gas station (Good thing I'm not in Texas...I'd be walking!)

Who hates messing with long tube headers?

I hate headers! They leak, they're hot (Especially Fenderwell headers). However....You can buy exhaust manifolds (Small-blocks) from Speedway that have 2 1/2 inch outlets...they work very well.

    Small block chevy intake problems

I read in Hotrod or Carcraft that the Vortec heads flow better than the best Fuelie heads (2.02 intake valve size)

    1984 El Camino Conquista.....Brown Sugar 2.0!

I had the same exact car, same year, color and all! Years ago I got caught going through a snowstorm (8") in North Carolina on my way to Daytona Bike week. They're snow removal equipment consisted of dropping tons of salt (Not plowing) on Route 95. Three months later the car started rotting...

    Gas tank sening unit

I need a gas tank sending unit for a 1978 El Camino (Never worked right), but to order it I have to know if it's a 17 or 22 gallon tank. The parts guy says to check the glove box decal.... but it's gone.....he also said the tanks look alike. I drained the gas out of it last week and I suppose I...

    Barrett-Jackson... 1979 Hurst/Olds

Don't let the "442" comment bother you. Almost 40 years ago someone told me I had a nice Mustang convertible.... NOT! It was a 1968 GT500 Shelby convertible... The twin to the car that Madonna gave to Shawn Penn! WTF!!!! (Hmmm, maybe that's why I sold it).

    Your car *WILL* get stolen!

I'm cheap! That's why I run a manual shut off valve, to stop the flow gas coming out of the gas tank. I have the gas line run into the trunk through the shut-off valve (Like a petcock) and back down to the line going to the engine. The thief may get a ride to your location, but then the driver...

    from drums to disc brakes

The thing that makes some kits expensive are the emergency (Parking) brakes. Some (Street-Rod) companies make them with or w/o the Emergency brake. Instead of having the E/brake incorporated into the rear brakes, they place the E/brake on the drive shaft flange, which I think is a good Idea and...

    Exhaust system re-routing

As you know, 1978 - 87 G bodies (Like my 85' El Camino) have the muffler sideways at the rear of the car. It has dual pipes thinking that its dual exhaust, but it's only two exits out of one muffler. Does anyone sell "True" dual exhausts? Has anyone in this group made one for their car...
