    403 or 455 questions

455! thats what i would go for, and buick 455 are excellent motors. but i hate to say this, but bigdan is right, turbo 350 arent quite strong enough unless modified.... im pretty sure that a turbo 350 will hold up to a 403 even if it is slightly modified.

    472 stroker olds

anybody put a 425 crank in a 403? it should yield something like 472 cubic inches, and i imagine with stock 2.072 big block heads headers and a custom intake and near .500 cam it should yield over 500 horsepower. I'd like to know if anything other then cutting down the 425 mains is needed, and...

    olds to chevy swap

go to the junkyard and get a 4-barrel intake and carb and a dist off any small block olds, done. you might need to tune the carb a little, but whatever should work fine. BTW, i used to deliver pizza in a 85 300zx turbo, isnt it fun??

    turbo dist.

really?? you mean the bellhousing is different? i got info that say that they are the same, though that's not as reliable as this forum. the 3.0 in the car right now is a short deck 3.8. other then the intake and crank everything else should be the same, except minor change's, the bellhousing...

    turbo dist.

better one's exist like megasquirt, it's like 250, though you do need a computer, but im on the net, i have on of those

    turbo dist.

yea, gm was the first to turbo charge a production car. though the turbo were not the best in the world, it was a major leap in technology. GM in the early 60's did a very good job of producing motor's and technology above and beyond what was needed. the Olds 215 was even all aluminum, block and...

    nailhead

but i want you to bore with the detail's. not saying that it was impossible, just exspensive. gm amke a variable displacement ls-series small block. the new hemi with variable displacement is awsome, btw. i didn't know caddy made one in 81.

    C5/C6 transaxle in a G body

yes, do it!! ok, seriously, this is a good idea. exspensive, yes, but a good idea. you could use a less exspensive porsche transaxle. either way you'd probally have to build a complete rear suspension for the transmision, unless you had the whole rear of the car.... and i wouldn't think it'd...

    turbo dist.

is there a differance between a turbo 3.8 distributor and a non-turbo 3.8 distributor?? would it be a serious problem to turbo a 4.1 with the stock distributor, or should i use a turbo dist., i would really like to use a aftermarket dist, but there's a lakc of funds for that. your help is...

    Steering Column.. need to know

dont know regal columns.. you could just switch the elky turn signal switch to the regal column. or just delete the dash mounted switch. shouldn't be a problem to have both as long as you dont hook both up.

i hate my 94 blazer transmission slipping anyone ever done one

well it has the same bolt pattern as a small-block chevy. i imagine it's eaither got a 4l60 or a late 700r4 in it. any pickup transmission will bolt it, of course driveline's might not fit, but if you get the same transmission(700r4 or a 4l60) out of anything 4wd it will fit and work just fine. i know a...

    nailhead

true yea, but it would be unique, it would cost more then a small-block almost anything, but if you had one around why not? sure part's aren't easy to find and are expensive, and it would be better in a vintage rod, but it's still a good motor, and produces lots if torque, it's similar to the...

    nailhead

but it has more power.... it has more power then a 3.8 for sure. gm even put a turbo on it but it never went to production because nothing would survive behind it. sure there are more powerful motor's, but a nailhead would be unique and still be better then stock. look in drag racing history...

    3.8 heads

thank you i might just do that, it would at least give me AWD and i know it can take some power, never thought of it tough, thank you!

    nailhead

anyone ever think of swapping an old nailhead into a GN?? that would be interesting

    3.8 heads

sorry well it's not for a g-body, but it seems people here actually know how to mod this motor. it's for a 85 Oldsmobile Cialis. not much fun converting it to RWD, but awd would be easier. im not worried about difficulty, or time it'll take to build. seem's the only AWD i can get from a...

    3.8 heads

what are the best stock haeds for a 3.8?? do the newer series engine's heads fit on the older block's?? I want a pair of aluminum head's, i'll keep my finger's crossed. and if anyone know's is it possible to hook up a 5-speed out of some front-wheel drive car, or maybe a 4-speed out of a fiero...

    What's Your Automotive Perversion?

    how about an 85 old's cailis with a pontiac 6000 awd, 3.8 buick v6 with a pair of turbo's from junkyard saab's(gt28's), a saab 9000 intercooler, 4 su sidedraft carb's(from datsun's), and a turbo dist. sounds fun
