im wanting to swap out the carb and dist. on an 88 SS for non computer controlled things, i have heard a bit about the transmission problems it will give, but i dont know how to fix that, and it was unclear, also what kind of carb and dist. do i get? something for a earlier model chevy?

soooooooooooo 88 monte 5.0 ss has no timing marks on the balancer behind the crank pulleys, how do i time this thing? are there timing marks someplace else? \thanks

ok the car is an 88 monte ss so its the 305 v8, a guy near me is selling some long tube headers for a small block, for 25$ he doesnt know what they are for or come from or brand or basically anything..... are they worth getting? will most headers fit this car? thanks
