yea i found out that they were the same..i found a rearend from a guy thats in my area from a monte ss ..he told me it was a 3.42 but turns out it was a 3.73..lol..lucky me..anyway i took the drums off and tryed them on the elky and they were exactly the same..now i need to find a transmission so i...
is the brake shoes and drums the same on both the 85 elky and monte ss. i know the monte has 15'' rims and the elky has 14'' but i was thinking the brakes and drums are the same..is this true..
the ring gear has 11:41 ..i counted the teeth and it has 41 teeth..i sandblasted it and it shows the gty.. i double check and that is what it says..but you say if its a 11:41 on the ring gear then its a 3.73 , is this correct...thanks
the rear end looked like it was made for the monte ss it didnt look to be wider than the car.. well im confussed now..im just needing to know if its a 3.73..i did remove the cover to drain the oil and check the gears and every thing looked good but i cant tell if it a 3.73 or not..

im working on a rear end i just got from a 85 monte ss and im having a hell of a time getting the brake drums off...usualy they pull right off but not this time..is there a trick to getting rusty drums off..

i scored a rear end out of a 85 monte ss and im wondering if the 85 had a 200r4 transmission.. if it does i might be buying it also..i know nothing about trans so how do i tell if it has a 200r4...
well what this guy told me was it would be ready to bolt in but there is only a 60 day warrenty.. i figure i'll need to put brake lines on it and change the rearend grease but im hoping its just a plug and play..you might want to call them and just ask about there rear end assemblys ..if i go...
my 85 elky seems to ride rough and im thinking a new set of shocks and springs all the way around.. are the air shocks for the back a good choice for elkys..also do they sale springs with different ratings so i can get the car to sit a little higher off the tires.. it looks like where its old...
