is the brake shoes and drums the same on both the 85 elky and monte ss. i know the monte has 15'' rims and the elky has 14'' but i was thinking the brakes and drums are the same..is this true..
im working on a rear end i just got from a 85 monte ss and im having a hell of a time getting the brake drums off...usualy they pull right off but not this time..is there a trick to getting rusty drums off..
i pulled a rear end from a 85 monte carlo ss today and i sand blasted a spot on the axel tubes so i could see the number and this is what i found...gtyc035 2 .. what do these number mean...the service sticker in the trunk lid had a gt4 so that a 3.73 gear but dont know what the other numbers...
my 85 elky seems to ride rough and im thinking a new set of shocks and springs all the way around.. are the air shocks for the back a good choice for elkys..also do they sale springs with different ratings so i can get the car to sit a little higher off the tires.. it looks like where its old...
im thinking about buying a used rear end out of a 85 monte carlo ss for my 85 el camino. i heard the monte ss rear end has posi track and 3.73 gear ratio.. i was told it would bolt up with no mods. at all . is this true . could anyone give my complete specs on the ss rear end including tire...
hey guys ..i have a 85 el camino. it has a new 350 crate motor with about 250hp and a new th350 trans with shift kit.im wanting to find a good rear end with say a 3.08 or 3.42 gears so i can maybe i can get full advantage of my 350 without working it to death..the engine will never see over...
