Speedo drive gear not staying in place !

Gear seems to fit snugly on shaft, I will have to look more closely at the shaft for wear but since this is a brand new TCI trans I would have assumed everything would be within spec ( If it is not within spec it will be the 4th problem I have had with this trans and it maybe has 100 miles on...

Speedo drive gear not staying in place !

Having a problem with a TH350, new speedo gears, new drive gear retaining clip. Install drive gear on trans shaft with clip, put all together, spin by hand numerous times, no problems. Once I start car and put it in drive (up on jackstands) it lasts maybe 5-10 seconds then comes loose, doesnt...

    78 different than 79 ??

It's just that you can't get the big brake kits for it, they only make them for 80 & up. I just swapped in a set of s-10 spindles and solved the problem

    Alignment Specs Change??

That sounds like the way to go, I'll set it up and see how it feels. I think just as accurate an alignment can be gotten without a computerised system. I just used my Longacre caster/camber gauge to set up the front end on a cobra replica I built that had fully adjustable upper arms and when I...

Installed tubular upper & lower arms, HD Springs and s-10 Spindles on a 78 El Camino. Wondering if this would change the alignment specs or will stock work

    Fuel Sender Ohm Reading

Can anyone verify that the fuel sender in the 78 el camino is the 0-90 ohm unit?? Not sure what the level in the tank is so I can't get an acccurate measurement. Too full to drop the tank and pull the sender.

    Blower motor runs constantly

When I shut the key off it stops so I would assume it's correct, all the wiring is where it is supposed to be

    Shorty Header Fit ??

Been through 2 sets of Sandersons now, passengers side seems to be OK but the cc10's aimed right at the firewall on the drivers side and the cc12's curve in too far and the collector is aimed right at the oil pan. Sanderson has been very helpful with exchanging them but I may be out of options...

    Gen 5 headers

Will those headers work with the vortec heads?? I'm putting in a GMPP zz383 and looked at the headers I had for the old engine and they don't look like they will work.

    78 different than 79 ??

Looking further although the rotor is different the 78 uses the same wheel bearings and ball joints as the 73-77 which tells me the spindle should be the same. I wonder if the brake kit from the 73-77 would work ??

    78 different than 79 ??

seems like the spindle size is the only difference, calipers, control arm bushings and ball joints are the same but the outer wheel bearing and the rotor are different. I guess I'll have to swap in a 79 & later spindle to make thse brakes fit.

    78 different than 79 ??

Looking at Wilwood brake kits for the front but their listing goes from 79-87 then another one for 73-77. Looked at a couple other manufacturers and same thing. Isn't 78 the same thing as 79-87 ?? Makes no sense.
