I have searched her and elsewhere and am finding conflicting information. I am about to pull the body off the frame of my 88 Monte Carlo to do a frame swap and a T56 6 speed conversion. I want to swap my headers while I am at it. I am insistent on 1 3/4 primary headers but can not find some that will both work with the manual transmission and the stock AC box. I am leaning towards Hooker 2551-2HKR at the moment as they are cheap and not coated so that I can modify them if needed.

Can anyone provide me some insight on why some say they will not clear the AC and if I will see any issues with the 6 speed manual transmission? Thank you in advance!

Not sure why there would be a clearance issue with the A/C box unless it has something to do with the #4 cylinder tube being routed the way it is. Hedman seens to be the better source for headers to work with the clutch linkage but no stainless steel versions.

Do you know which Hedman may work best?

If you are insistent on 1.75" headers that work with 4 speed without mods, then Doug's is probably your best bet. They claim they clear everything, even the z bar.

Any headers should work with a small block and T56

There is no linkage to worry about and the AC will fit just like any other set of headers

Great information regarding the transmission, thats one problem solved.

Can you tell me why the Schoelfeld and other headers say they will not work with AC then? This much be due to a tube interacting with the AC box but I can not get anyone to confirm this.
