16" Wheel fitment question

I think we might have a conclusion.

REV classic 100 chrome wheels with 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear.

Knowing me though I will change my mind before I place the order. 😀

Well, I have changed my mind. lol

I'm going to stick with the 16's and go with either 225/55 front and 245/50 rear or 255/50 rear. Will the 255/50 rear cause rubbing issues with a 4.5 backspacing?

Going to get dual exhaust ran with the money I save going from the 17" to the 16" wheel.

It should fit fine. Maybe roll the rear fender lip just to be safe, but I didn't on mine. Only slightly rubs when the suspension is fully tweaked like when pulling into a steep driveway. Unless your car is as low as mine you prolly won't have any issues.

245/50/16s up front & 255/50/16s on the back of my friends factory Buick GNX look great no rub. 225 might be a bit small short skinney on 16x8.

245front 255rear is not much of a difference to even pay the extra price for the wider tire. Am I alone on this? Plus for the small size difference I might as well just run the same size all around.

And I really don't want to roll my fender. That's more trouble than its worth. If the 255 is going to rub on the rear then Ill just go with 245 rear.

245/50/16 all around is good as it gives you some advantages as far as tire rotation over time especially if something wears bad for some reason. What I was alluding to was that there is no rub on 255s in the rear on factory original 16x8 GNX rims. 255/50/16 mostly helps give it a little better stance & attitude.

255/50/16 on the rear of my Salon has plenty of room concerning the wheel well and lip. As far as the front, they are 15s, unfortunately, so I can't personally speak to that.

Will be ordering the 17x8 for the front (4.5 backspacing)with 245/45/17 tires and 17x9 for the rear (5.0 backspacing) with 275/45/17 tires. Going to try and see if they will go on without any rub on the rear before I order the 1" adapters for the rear. Some say it will not rub, some say it will. Sounds like it's 50/50.

Cannot wait until I get these things mounted on my GP.

After reading this whole post I have found no one has offered this combo for you. 235/55/16 front & 255/50/16 rear. This lets you fill up your rear well a little and the 235 is the same height as the 245 about 1/4" narrower on both sidewalls giving you a little added clearance for you sway bay and fender lip without loosing the tire height like the 225. jmo
