In theory if it takes 200 hp to run 100 mph it will take 800 hp to go 200 mph in the same car.
Twice the speed takes 4 times the power.

I know someone that is building an 800 h.p. 1979 Grand Am for one of these events.

I'm not sure if it will be ready this year or not. I need to check up on the project and maybe schedule some vacation.

Oh, and a factory 78 Grand Am speedometer will snap before it gets back to zero the first time. And it will break again if you replace it with a new one. Never could get it "pegged" without snappin

a 200 hp car with the same transmission, rear end and wheel size as a 800 hp car will do the same speed at the same rpm...the 800 hp car will only get there sooner

Ha ha no, if you look closely I said if it takes 200 hp to run 100 meaning your using 200 hp to move you car 100 mi per hr. It will take 4 times that much to double your speed in the same car, but don't take my word for it do the research!
What I'm saying is the car's gearing may be capable of 200 but the engine only has the power to push it to 100 mi per hr. In order to go 200 it will take 800 ponies.
