Hello,

This past September I lost my Grandfather to lung cancer and inherited his 1957 Chevy Belair. My grandfather loved his Belair. He received it as a Christmas present from my grandmother in 1994; I was 4 years old. When I saw the car I fell in love with it. I helped my grandfather restore the car and it went to its first car show in 2013 where it won People's Choice. The car is a labor of love as it was hand sanded to bare metal before spraying it with fresh paint.

My plans are to cruise around to all the local shows with my family and show his and my love for this car to anyone who stops to look at it.

The car is powered by the original 283 that has been bored .40 over with full roller internals. The car is a blast to drive with no power steering and drum brakes. Definitely brings you back to the 1950s and 1960s. It is an old skool hot rod.

Tim

Nice car, Tim.
Thank you for sharing a little history about the car with us. It sounds like you have a lot of sentimental value for the car, understandably so.
I've had several friends with Tri-five Chevys back in the day. They were extremely popular back then...and still are today.

Longroof. The car means a lot to me I made sure I was able to get the same custom plates my gramps had for the car transfered to me at the dmv.
We have all the original yearly registrations for the car from 1957 to 1977 when it was in Oklahoma. When my grandmother bought it, the car it came home as a rolling chassis and all parts were in boxes.

There was a lot of love put into the car while restoring it and a lot of memories were made with my gramps.

Love it! Dad bought a basket case 57 2-door hardtop Bellaire in about 1979. I would have been barely 4. That car gave me the bug. Wish he still had it.

My whole family has the bug. My uncle has a 1967 chevelle he restored from the ground up with a 383 stroker. His son has a 1966 chevy c10 and a 1979 ford f250. His daughter has a 1973 ford f100. My uncle does body and paint work for a living. And my father in law owns his own restoration shop. I never get enough of cars. Some days I wish I chose that as a profession, not a hobby.

My friend restored this in his garage. The Chev is a high 90's Concourse winner.

There was a time when guys wouldn't give a 4-dr a second glance. With the prices of 2-dr sedans and hardtops going to the roof, 4-drs had become more desirable.
However, for some reason, 4-drs were always popular in Australia.

Tim, That is a beautiful car and the color is perfect. It's great that your Grandfather had you to give the car to knowing that it is good hands..:)

Happy Friday everyone,

I was digging around the shed at my grandmother's as my grandfather always told me he had a full set of indy slots that came with the Belair when he brought it home in 1994. I found them. They are 14x6, but would like to find some 15x7s for the rear. Does anyone have a pair they would be willing to part with?

Main reason I am looking to change rims is because the rear cragers are 15x8 and rub fender when hitting a speed bump or going around a corner at speed.
