The General Motors G platform (also called G-body) was an automobile platform designation used for mid-sized rear wheel drive cars first from 1969-1972 and again from 1982 to 1988. The G-body models began production designated as A-body cars in 1978, but were redesignated as G when the new front wheel drive A-body was introduced in 1982
Couldn't have said it betterPurists will refer to the 78-81 cars as A-bodies and the 82-88 cars as G-bodies. I have always referred to the 78-88 cars as G-bodies even though that is not technically correct. When people talk about A-bodies, most people(myself included) think of the 64-72 years even though the A-body ran from 64-81. What your car represents is a new model year change. It was built in the later part of 77 and titled as a 77 even though it was being built for the 78 model year. It just so happens that 77 and 78 was also the change in body styles. HTH some.
What we have here is either a case of clerical error or fraud.
He sent me the Vin it's a 78 modelThe 6th digit of the VIN will tell the true story.
It's very clearly a 1979 model in the pictures.
If the VIN says 1979, then it's just a clerical error on the title.
If it says 1977, then it's been fraudulently VIN swapped...
